Root TWRP 2.8.5.0 for Realm (LS620) and Exceed 2 (VS450PP)

Dang.. No recovery? Apparently (recently learned) LG has a special "signature" on their boot.img that causes it to throw the secure boot error. The "bump" emulates the LG signature to allow the check to pass. I found this out AFTER I made & posted the stock ROM the first time. So I removed them to get corrected.

I dded the img into the aboot partition. I'm in download mode atm setting up the flash tool to do a kdz backup
Ah, adb then. I'm also assuming that you mean "restore" from DL mode, not backup ;).

Probably the best option. You can then reroot and install the latest TWRP 2.8.6 found in another thread here. Do a full stock nandroid, then go for it. At least you'll then have access to recovery with the battery pull procedure for restoring to stock.

Much faster and easier than a full factory KDZ restore. And no computer needed.

When I attempt to flash the kdz I get an error about extracting the cab file as well as an error message saying that the phone isn't plugged in.

Yes. I believe it's an issue with my drivers, I have never used lg before so I don't know which ones I am supposed to have installed
Do a search for "15 second adb" XDA and it will install everything you need for most any device. The beauty of this is you can set it global for use in any folder. Cannot post the link from my phone, but this will do it.

EDIT: Link to forum to get your drivers, etc. [TOOL] [WINDOWS] ADB, Fastboot and Drivers - 15 seconds ADB Installer

EDIT2: Remember copy KDZ file into LG Flash Tool 2014 folder

EDIT3: Being the program had an issue extracting, verify the md5 checksum of the file:

Hey y'all! I was reading the beginning of the tread and I'm pretty sure that one or all of y'all can help me. I'm not a total newbie to modifying my devices to work efficiently, the way I like it to run. Granted I don't mess with things I don't understand especially without asking for help which brings me to my point. I have the ls620.... It auto updated this morning and said reboot&install. Push button. Installs. Reboots. Bootloop.... Factory restore... Takes FOREVER to load and usually not without some prompting of trying to power off... Power off options screen come up. Tap power. Home screen black have notification bar can get to settings etc. I can boot into <3e> recovery.... From look screen I can get to phone and messaging. Have no keyboard and no browser can't login to Google account to download. Can't side load and its not mounting sd in recovery.... Phone says it is mounted when loaded... I just need help to walk through how to use this in odin if possible and how do I put this phone in download mode or please explain how I can get back to a stock or even custom rom at this point I just want to be able to get it working proper if possible... Is it doable? Fortunately boostmobile (thank you) is sending me a new phone free of charge by Monday. I called lg and them.... Searched and search all day. I'm hoping the post find the right answer. I am not familiar with twrp or adb but if its possible and someone can explain to me exactly where files need put how to use the programs to get this booger running proper I'm game to learn. I really liked this phone and didn't ask for the update but I never had these problems before. I haven't had an LG before either.

My hubby has the same phone also so if someone can teach how to grab files from his and where to put them maybe that's an option....
I want to learn adb and twrp. I have miniadb and fastboot on computer. And see device but I don't know how to use it or fastboot.. I also have lg flash tools but don't know how to use, and the fact that recovery won't mount sd but phone says it is in settings. Praying for knowledge, I am a little grasshoppa lol
If you need anymore info I'll be glad to supply as much as I am able... Sorry for the long post I wanted to give as much info as possible now so hopefully someone could help me diagnose and fix. Thank a million y'all!

Download successful [emoji56] , you are THE MANN!! And thanks again. [emoji41]

Getting into download mode is as simple as powering off the phone, then plug in to the computer while holding the volume up key. The real problem is that there is no kdz available for the realm, so it's of no use unless you can locate it.

Odin is for Samsung devices, LG flash tool is the program for flashing this phone.

I understand that you are new and want to learn. I just told you 2 things that you could have found on your own. Much of what you seek has been linked/discussed right here on these forums. I'm of the opinion that you want to fix your device and following a guide teaches nothing.

You will need to search and read until your eyes bleed to truly learn. You will almost surely brick a few devices in the adventure. It happens to all of us.

That said, I wish you well and will gladly assist if you put in the time to grasp the concepts.

I am familiar with Samsung and using odin. I am willing and want to learn lg. My problem is I'm not sure and have research to see if you can use odin with lg.
I havent had any luck getting it into download mode that's why I asked. If lg flash tool will do the trick I'm all for it. Not familiar with it. Looks Greek to me. I tried something with it earlier and an SD card and it didn't work... Recovery isn't mounting sd card. Idk why don't know how to make it mount.. Phones settings says it is mounted that's why I'm confused. I read the adb instructions and follow the steps but I'm apparently not doing something right.II don't remember the issue I'm having... Oh yes I was trying to sideload a keyboard app with adb... Told me keyboard.apk was invalid. Researched that and tried putting it in the adb folder ( maybe put in wrong place, misunderstood) and still nothing... I was initially thinking if I could get a keyboard on the device I might could easily fix my issues... Either way having it wouldnt hurt.

I did not read the entire post
I have been going at this since about 7am ish and I'm tired. What I did read maybe I didn't comprehend...? I'm not even sure my long winded post made sense lol. Please advise if you are able

Sometimes it's best to take a break. Too much reading can confuse if you didn't comprehend just one of those basic steps or concepts. I'm currently working in excess of 72 hours a week, or I could help you more. Couple that with things needing attention at home, and I'm lucky to get 5-6 hours of sleep :(

Just take "baby steps" until someone can step in and truly assist. I'll try, but my time is just so limited of late.

As an aside, we are way off topic for this thread, as these issues have nothing to do with the twrp recovery. Pose your questions in the general Q & A/help area(s) and you may well receive more visibility and assistance. Good luck :)

Thanks friend!
I did take a break and I am trying one thing today then I'm going to leave it alone for a minute. As I said it is still semi useable which is better than nothing and boost is sending me a free replacement upgrade that I should have by tuesday. Thank the Lord! Then I can truly play around with this one a little more. If I brick it I brick it. If I don't then hubby has a replacement phone when his glass starts falling out because he cracked his while in the oilfield one day lol...
I will look into finding exactly which area of general help to post a message and hopefully get some more help. As I said I'm in no complete rush. Any amount of help no matter how big or small is appreciated. My replacement will be an lg as well so learning how to mod lgs will only benefit
Thanks again @Father Guido

I "have" to go to PC connection/Select USB connection method/ then use "Internet connection" and select ethernet or modem to enable debugging. Even if one is previously selected, (and I reboot or unplug) I have to switch to one or the other before debugging is enabled again..

Yep, this was slowing down my process of rooting my Exceed 2 because towelroot didn't work. I did eventually get it rooted though.

I think it has something to do with Verizon firmware. Same issues with debugging on the LG Transpyre (VS810PP). Linux or Windows, doesn't matter.

Welp, I managed to brick my vs450pp three times, the last of which had to completely change the board chip set, it was completely gone with absolutely no response to anything. This time I have managed to successfully root, install twrp with the link from this thread, and made a backup. But I can't find any custom roms. .. still not any around? Also I have another vs450pp if one of u guys want it to use for development... thanks for all the time y'all have put into this topic, and I'd be glad to help in any way if I can.

Thank you very much for your work! I can nandroid my Realm now. OTOH...

Forgive my ignorance, but are the partitions hardcoded into the recovery? This works great on my LG Realm, but fails miserably on the Exceed 2. I pulled the /dev/block/platform/... from each and they are quite different. If indeed hardcoded, it would explain the symptoms I am having (see my previous post). Being new here (but somewhat active on XDA), I'll attempt to attach the relevant /dev/block pulls from each. You will notice they are quite different.

EDIT: Forgot the failed recovery log - oops ;)

Will this update my phone to android lollipop. Do I have to be rooted.

No, and if a lollipop update was available it would fail if you are rooted. There might be a LP ROM available for this device, but you will need to search for it. I don't know of any or I would point you in the right direction. Sorry...

There is a G3 ported ROM for the Ultimate 2 that rcunningham developed and I have successfully flashed this to the Exceed 2. I have difficulty posting links from my phone, but I'm sure you can Google it.
