type of glass

I'm curious what type of glass (or plastic) is used for the Optimus V screen. Obviously it's not Gorilla Glass, but is it glass or plastic?

And does it have any particular coatings?

I"m asking mainly in terms of polishing, and potentially buffing out small scratches. Obviously I don't want to damage any surface coatings or the touchscreen.

I've got a Novatek screen, not sure if that might also be a factor.

If memory serves me right, i read somewhere that it was plastic.

I've always used toothpaste to take out small scratches, Ultra Brite seems to work best. It also works on cars that have plastic covered headlights, no need to buy that overpriced polish they advertise on tv. ;)

I never did get a definitive answer from anybody about whether or not the OV screen is plastic or glass.

I did try to use toothpaste (Crest if you're interested) to buff out a scratch using a rotary tool with a buffing wheel with no success. I also used toothpaste on a microfiber cloth and unbleached paper towel without any luck.

The scratch isn't too deep, but it can be felt with a fingernail.

Anybody have any success removing scratches on the OV screen?

Sorry. I've always had a screen protector on mine (at least till just a few months ago when it finally peelled off).

It's plastic, sorry the toothpaste didn't work for you it takes out fine scratches, i've never had one that deep, dunno what to try for a deeper one.:(
