Typing passwords accurately

I haven't got a Hero yet, but while waiting for delivery I'm trying to anticipate possible problems and realise that one of the first could be typing the WPA passphrase for our WiFi router accurately with stubby fingertips on an unfamiliar touchscreen keyboard. Is it possible to see the passphrase you type (and so spot the typing errors)? Any advice, please?

Characters entered remain visible for a second or two afterwards, so yes. It also helps if you run the touch calibration routine asap as this definitely improved my own accuracy.

There's also a little checkbox under most password fields to "show characters".

This enables you to make sure you have the correct spelling/phrase.

I've got the Hero now, and this worked like a dream, except that the show characters tick box was hidden by the keyboard the first time I entered the passphrase. Of course I made a mistake or few. After blundering around in the dark for a few minutes I discovered how to turn the keyboard off (click the icon at the bottom left) and all was light!

Yeah, I find myself getting the keyboard out of the way so I can see quite a few times!

I'll get used to it I guess.
