Help Typing

I'm so use to typing on the iPhone 4, I'm finding it hard to get use to the Samsung typing.

Are there shortcuts for adding a period, and making the first letter of the next word [not the start of a sentence] CAPS? And using punctuation in general, I don't have to press the shift, then the one I wan't, do I? Is there an option to hold shift and slide to the one I want [I hate to say it], like you can on the iPhone?

Have you tried the built in Swype? It takes a few to get used to tracing out what you want but is very intuitive and can do what you need.

Not yet. I'd hate to get use to something like that, to only then switch to another device and then be lumbered when it doesn't have that feature.

But, I will say I installed Gingerbread Keyboard, and s l o w l y am getting use to it.

You should pick up the app swift keyX. It has different punctuations assigned to every key and all you have to do is long press the key for the desired punctuation. It also has a very smart word prediction that makes typing incredibly fast! That app may cost a buck or two but it's worth it, best keyboard in my opinion. Also check the settings on the stock key boards there are definitely alot of different options to suit your needs. I came from an iphone as well and it was definitely a learning curve, but i could never go back now, Personalization is amazing! So many choices.

Definitely experiment with different keyboards ....there are many in the market that mimmick the iphone.

keep in mindvalso that our keyboard has many built in "shift" functions by simply long pressing certain keys

Mr. Ed, thanks for the info. I came across that by accident last night [the holding down of a key]...
