alot of phones cant handle 748, alot of others cant handle pass 700 and even some had problem with a little over 600, some got lucky and some didnt.

so its set to 748mhz by default is there any way to troubleshoot this and see how much mine can handle im just not shure if its possible to use an app to go past 710 and play with it

no its set to 600 default...and no app to get it past 710, it was an oc kernel on the 0514 that could be flash with that build.

Oh I. See but why then woul I get a bootloop assuming the flash had Ben done properly and I had only flashed. 0514 and gapps so

try flashing again but this time just wipe data/ factory, wipe cache, wipe delvike...but the ascend is crazy like that. i know its a pain that peoples gets bootloops, but isaac was working on a project for phones that had this issue on fresh installs.

How do I program my number in? Like how do i get to nam settings in the Metropcs version ##PROGRAM Does not work or ##626* any one know how?

First off, it's very nice to get this ROM on the Ascend. I've rooted one of my twin brothers phone (will do the other's phone once metro gets him a new one) but the only problem I have is that WiFi doesn't work.
I've gotten it to work once, I shut it off, rebooted the phone and it magically worked. But now it isn't working again. When i try to connect to a wifi spot it does this:
Scanning > Connecting... > Disconnected.

Any solutions?
Thanks a lot for this ROM though! the phone is like a million times faster and smoother! With ofcourse Gingerbread =]

HOW TO ROOT YOUR ASCEND
this is necessary if you want to remove bloatware and useful if you have free apps you want to keep after flashing custom roms

Rooting the Ascend is stupid easy download z4 root here -----> z4root.1.3.0.apk

you can do this from your phones stock browser, if you have trouble try skyfire -------> https://market.android.com/details?id=com.skyfire.browser&feature=search_result

go to the setting in your phone: menu button, tap settings.

go to applications, check "unknown sources" and tap ok.
scroll down to "development" and check "usb debugging" and "allow mock locations"

open the "file manager" app on your phone and look in "downloads" open the z4root.apk and select install.

once it's installed open it and tap "permanent root"

wait till it reboots and now your rooted!

HOW TO REMOVE BLOATWARE

first root your phone (see above)

There are a few apps that will let you remove the bloatware (metro and cricket apps) from your phone. the most notable advantage of this is extra memory for other apps but the best reason is the battery metro users will save by getting rid of boingo and metrowifi.

i use titanium backup (i paid for pro)--------> https://market.android.com/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&feature=search_result

once it's downloaded open it and allow su permission. tap the "problems?" button at the bottom of the screen. tap "get BusyBox"

once that's done tap the "backup/restore" tab.

BACKUP YOUR APPS!

press the phone menu button and select "batch" select "run" next to "backup all user apps"


now to kill the bloat.

to make things easier tap where it says "click to edit filters" and select "system" under filter by type.

apps to delete include:
Mail@metro
Swype
YouTube
Metro 411
Android keyboard
Voice dialer
Myextras
Metro navigator
Boingo wifi
Metropcs easy wifi
Metro web (only if you have another browser)
Mocospace
Pocket express
Uno
Virtual card
Mobile I'm
Loopt
Google skymap

keep any you want, these are just some that i deleted.


cricket bloat includes:
1) UNO
2) Midnight Bowling 2
3) Documents 2 Go
4) MyAccount
5) Storefront (Market does the same thing)
6) Mobile Web (the one with the K over it)
7) Poynt
8) Swype
9) Photobucket
10) Youtube

i don't have cricket so i will expand the list as a ask my chirpy friends to help.

Before doing anything to your phone, you should read up on what is rooting your phone, and custom roms.

If your phone is all set up on stock, then when you root or flash one of the Roms, then you shouldn't have to "program" your phone.

lol... I know what you mean. I changed my number and metro does not do OTA (Over The Air) programming.

I did however find a loop hole... I flashed icarus and programmed from there and then flashed back to cm7. I just wonder why I cant just program thru CM7
 
Hey, Guys, I'm a newbie, and this is my first post…..hi!

I've rooted my Cricket Ascend, but I'm still running stock. I want to jump to CM7, but, I'm on a mac. How do I connect the two? I think I remember Tokenpoke mentioning he connected direct to the sd card, but no details were mentioned about how to do that. Ideas?

Just remember that the original coding for 2.3 was not intended for the Ascend. But thanks to people like Pip, Isaac, and they guys at Cyanogen, we can use it. There may be unexpected results though.
Oh, and PlayfulGod is doing a great job of getting rid of the crapware from the new Metro 2.2.2 upgrade. It is running great. You might want to check it out on his thread http://androidforums.com/ascend-all...-2-froyo-rooted-deodex-bloatware-removed.html
 
hey guys i could really use some help, i am trying to install cm6 to my phone and wnen i chose it the .zip file it tries to open and install but the i get this...E:Can't open /sdcard/cm6-ascend-metropcs-04212011.zip (bad) installation aborted.. the gapps.zip file installs just fine but this one does not. how can i fix this i really really want cm6 please help. you can write back here or email me any help will be welcomed, i just cant figure it out. thanks

ok i did that successfully but when i try to flash i get this...
