The home button is the call end button. But with CM7, it defaults to screen off instead of home. Look at your apps for Spare Parts. Run it, scroll down, and you'll see the "end button behavior" option. Just change it to "go to home."
 
ok so , so far i have rooted my phone and dl'd rommanager i want to change the rom because i want my phone to do evrything it is capable of.. i want to backup my stock before i change the rom so i have to install clockworkmod? to backup? i guess my question is if u (as a technically advanced person) are wanting to do this what all should i do ? root, backup, change mod ,what are the must haves to have my phone the way i want it to be ..

Cons (all issues are being worked on expect frequent update notices) :

USB mount doesn't work on MAC (fine on PC)

Some apps will not run on sd card.

install CWM 3.0.0.5 from the app RomManager (free on market)

download these files-

move the .zip from downloads to the main area of your sd card (if you download from your phone) using file manager.

alternatively you can plug your phone into your pc and move it manually by dragging from the download folder and dropping it in the main area.

backup your contacts to your sd if they are not synched with google.

go to contacts, press the menu button, select "more", select "manage contacts", select "backup to sd" and press ok.

Boot to cwm VOLUME ROCKER UP+CALL BUTTON+POWER

USING THE TRACK BALL

go to backup/restore and select backup.

reboot phone and connect to usb

copy your sd card a folder called "sd backup" for safe keeping.

power off phone and reboot into cwm (VOLUME ROCKER UP+CALL BUTTON+POWER)

use your track ball to select (in order) the following commands

wipe data/ factory reset
wipe cache

advanced

wipe dalvik cache

press the back button (the arrow) on your phone.
under mounts and storage, format following...
boot
data
system
cache

press the back button (the arrow) on your phone.

install .zip from sd
chose zip from sd.
choose cm7.zip
choose gapps-cm7.zip

phone will do a bunch of crazy stuff for a few minutes after each .zip is selected

press back on your phone

select:
mounts and storage,
format sd

press back on your phone

select:
advanced,
fix permissions

restart system now.

METRO USERS ONLY!

after your first boot and setup download the mms fix called metroff and place it in the main area of your sd card.
return to cwm and flash the metroff mms fix

if you wish to move all the apps and widgets on your phone just like with icarus you need to install the DarkTremor a2sd script.

and copy it to your sd cards main area where you put the rom, gapps (and if metropcs) metroff.

copy your sd card contents to you pc

unmount and disconnect the phone from the pc.

hold the power button until a menu pops up and select "reboot" then "recovery"

once in recovery mode select "install .zip from sd card

select the DTapps2sd zip

when its installed go back to the main menu of CWM

scroll to and select "mounts and storage"

select "format sd card"

go back to the main CWM menu and select "advanced" then "partition sd card"

i set mine at 512mb with a 32mb swap.

reboot your phone

after boot please look in the Icarus 1.1 section to get a feel for A2SD commands in the terminal emulator. i ran the ones listed there for my set up but have been told that the apps are moved when you flash the .zip. a good way to check is to just peek into Titanium Backup and check memory use.

when backing up with clockworkmod it says no sd card found and i cant find a file that says sd backup . i have backed up contacts saved all my pictures on the comp and backed up all apps and data with titanium so am i good to go on the backup or is there something else i need to do before finishing ?

i copied my "removable disc" to comp is that an option since i cant find "sd backup'' folder?

If you have all that backed up you are good. Flash it. You dont need the back up in clockwork if you backed everything up like that. Only thing you wont have a back up of is the actual rom. But if you ever want to go back to stock. We can get you back to the stock rom.

i followed all instructions to install cm7 but when restarting it stays at the huawei screen what do i do?

im guessing if im right i'll have to go get a card reader and redo or try another rom? because my computer wont pick up my phone in this condition and clockwork mod of course after formatting sd has deleted the zip files ..

You may have a bad download or you could have a "lazy" Ascend. Try redownloading the file and flashing again.

Get root explorer. You have to buy it in the. Market. But it works.
 
im having problem with z4root its not letting me run the program after i check permanent root it doest rebot it just crashes can anyone help plz
 
im having problem with the link for the google apps it doesnt seem to work for the cm6 plz help. also before i install cm6 do i need to install cm6- METROPCS w/zeam as well
 
All those CM6's are the same except for the home launcher is different which is what Zeam is.

Here the original 0828 gapps (which are the newest) were meant to be flashed with Gingerbread but I hooked you up and these should now be able to be flashed with cm6

ok tried cm6 just installed cm7 loved it even more only problem is im getting less network bars is there a fix for that on cm7
 
Finally decided to root due to extreme lagging I'm experiencing in addition to a lack of space with only a few apps added on my stock phone (Android v2.2.2). However I'm already running into issues with trying to back-up my phone with titanium pro. I've run Z4root (twice now) and have opened titanium only to be told that I'm not rooted and that the program will not work. Really frustrated that I've paid for this program and its not working with me. I think that I've also read (somewhere in this thread) something along the lines that running z4root isn't even necessary if I'm going to CM7. Do I need to factory reset the phone at this point? So irritated as I'm not computer illiterate by any means and as of yet I haven't see any posts of any similar issues in here... Thanks for any help offered.
