Root ultimate ascend customization guide.

now on getjar i'm tring to get the new wendows 7 them not ultimate 7 the newest one and it won't let me download without having fryo but u say it's insainly buggy so should i get it to download the new windows 7 if i already have 7ulitmae?

can this be moved to the sd card and still work (i only use it for go locker)
i have it and go_locker. i dont want to lock myself out of my phone :)

also google books any luck moving that beast?

I don't ever recommend moving launchers to sd because a corruption will lock you out if you remove the stock launcher.

If anything move it to system (with a backup launcher in case it force closes and crashes out) and delete stock.

Haven't used my ascend since books was released but maybe you should look into the a2sd script.
 
hello, this is my first time posting here, and any help will be appreciated. i have a huawei ascend that i rooted, but i deleted canvas not knowing it was a launcher. now i can only get the phone to start up after a factory reset (every single time), and i cant seem to get it to connect to my computer.

anyway when i get it to start, i get a black screen. i still see the top pull-down bar, but i cant do anything. CWM is the blue font and idk how to get CWM with the green font. i have limited options and cant install zips from the menu.

idk why my computer wont read it, i installed the drivers but still no luck.
so i dont know how i can fix this. is there any way to get the different cwm that lets me install zips from SD?
 
You need a card reader for your card, and a backed up google account(best way to keep your phone settings), put the card into reader, download from computer needed files(your choice of roms, stock, cyanogenmod 7.2, cyanogenmod 6, and gapps, make sure gapps are exactly for whatever version of rom that you use, and have a google account , use cwm 3.0.0.5, the best version for this ascend). You will have to do some digging on the internet for some files, if your old version of cwm still works, unzip updated version of cwm to phone(it will be orange) , format system, data, cache( no sd!). unzip operating system rom, install, go back into cwm, unzip gapps for whatever rom that you installed, restart, run google setup, it should work. Install on. phone, not from computer.
 
I have a Metro Ascend with 2.2.2 upgrade. I cannot get Gingerbreak or Z4 to work. Z4 just flips back to apps page and GB just stays at the "...rooting.." message and never reboots or anything. I have enable debugging. Am I missing something or is there a better app I can use for this version to root? I am ultimately going to flash CM7 once I get the root access, which I assume is required according to the guide.

Hey csvking and welcome to Android Forums:)
No worries-I actually deleted everything on my Ascend via computer to the point where it would only boot to the Huawei screen. It now has CM7:thumbup:
Really easy to do-you want to dive in:confused:

I have downloaded gapps, cm7mod, rommanager, a4 and gingerbreak. I installed a4 and tried to root with no success. I d'/l gingerbreak and installed, tried to root with no success. I'm pretty sure i need to root b4 anything else, so that's where i'm stuck. I'll have time this evening (PST) and i have yahoo or skype or telephone, hehe. I have read that android's running 2.2.2 are a bit tricky.

I need some help, please. I'm updated to Icarus 1.1 which seemed to go off without a hitch except for the fact that now that Market is Play Store, when I click Market, I just get a blank, white screen. Please help! Could I manually restore Play Store by copying over Root Explorer??

ok- i've been a lurker around here and other areas for about a month now- learning all i can about rooting and flashing... rooting my phone went great- did everything i wanted it too... about 2 days ago i flashed cm7 and then started noticing the problem... it works amazingly anywhere else, but im currently staying in a hotel and as soon as i walk in the door- if i touch the phone for any reason it starts a continuous reboot loop :( this is really wierd and not good at all- any reason this would happen? it even works great at work so dunno what the problem is but i cant be without my phone for 9hrs every day :(
help??

When I enter the "check" command on the SETTING UP A2SD it fails. Im running an 8GB SD card, I formatted 1024 and 0. I went ahead and installed CM7, MMS, etc. I had to fix the wifi problem and so on. It works great, I love it, but the phone only has 167MB of space. It is not automatically saving my apps to partition. So I do not have any space. Every time I install an app, my phone says its running out of space and I have to move and delete stuff. Any leads?

The newer builds of CM7 had the A2SD baked in, you don't have to do anything to set it up besides the card partition. At least that's the way I remember it. It's been awhile.

Internal 174MB (45.3 MB free)
SD card 6.91 GB (5.52 MB free)

So where is my 1024 partition that my apps are supposed to install to? I'm still having to manually transfer them to my SD card.

Need help, have been researching about 5 days continuesly and havent succes?
*I tried TokenPoke's tutorial but it wasnt worked..

Yeah,don't format the SDcard,especially if you don't have its contents backed up to your computer. Format everything but the card,then:


1)Install CM6/CM7 zip

2)Install GAPPS (+METROFF for METRO PCS USERS ONLY,if applicable)

I did format the sd for some dumb reason And didnt have it backed up so do i just need to hook my sd card to card reader and download stock 2.1 and go from there.

I doubt it if it didn't work....

You could start building it yourself or look for a working root and cwm. That would hep you help a dev port it.

I am new...so looking for an easy way to fix my Huawei ascend H881C. I am on straight talk, the phone is new. However already having issues with memory shortage :( So I went to download the first link for the tool you have suggested and it says it's a virus. Not happy.
