Help Um, I think this battery issue will be a problem...

^^That may not be a fair comparison putting the Droid against the Incredible. Reason I am saying this, is as I recall, HTC phones have always had less signal strength than Motorolas. One thing Moto is king on, is sound quality, call quality, and reception strength.

I think you'll find the numbers may be skewed in favor of the Droid. This could also explain why HTC devices just don't get as good battery performance than other makes as their signal reception just isn't as good.

*Edited. Don't take this as a slam on the Incredible or HTC btw.

This is a very intersting thread because I've read many reviews and most have said that you can get through a day very easily on this phone.

Let's keep this bumped and figure out why some people have such bad battery life and some have 24+ hour battery life!

Picking up mine tomorrow can't help yet sorry.

And when I hit that 300 hours on the iPhone, I can simply swap with a backup battery. Oh, wait...:rolleyes:
 
The problem that the OP is describing is definitely a personal hardware issue it would seem. After 3 hours since last unplugged, my breakdown is as such. 94% Android system, 2% cell standby, 2% bluetooth, and 2% phone idle. If you are getting high cell standby and high phone idle percentages then something with your phone is wrong. As getting 17% phone idle which if you are saying after 4 hours consists of 80% of your total battery life then your total standby time would be at about 26 hrs if you hadn't touched the phone or connected it to anything at all.

Hmmm. I'm having battery problems as well. Heres my breakdown. 46% AndSystem 22% Standby 14%Idle 14% Display 2% akmd 2% Handcent.

Any thoughts?
 
my battery usage is as follows:

cell standby: 43%
phone idle: 37%
android system: 13%
display: 4%
camera: 3%

my battery does seem to be going down quite fast compared to what's been mentioned by others. does this battery usage profile indicate a problem somewhere?
 
Ok I actually downloaded Advanced Task Killer and Android System is now at 84%. That's a pretty significant shift. ATK is the only thing I've done differently with the phone since I wrote the above usages.hmmmm
 
So there's solid confirmation that the Eris battery is the same size / shape as the Incredible's? If so, I'm ordering an extended one quick, unless there would be some benefit to waiting for a battery that is made for the Incredible.... maybe just that it would be red? :P

Android: 31%
Cell Standby: 25%
Phone idle: 18%
Maps: 9%
Display: 9%
Wifi: 5%
Internet: 3%

Do these numbers look normal or is something off? I'm sitting on 60% battery left.

I say pull the trigger and get the Seidio 1750 mAh for Eris if you have the $$. Otherwise go with the OEM HTC TouchPro2 1500mAh battery -- it'll fit as well and for less than half the price (Seidio = $40 vs. OEM = $16 on ebay) :D

I'll let you all know how my Seidio 1750 mAh works out over the weekend in my Incredible.

I would say 3 to 8 would be decent.

The higher the number the more the phone has to work to overcome the "noise".

I used it HEAVY most of the day and got about 6.5 hrs out of it,a tad disappointing.

Does anyone else find it odd that less than aminute of camera use, used 10% of the battery?
 
I've been unplugged for 8 hours and have used the phone moderately through out the day and probably have around 40% left on the battery. Seems I'll make it though the day ok.

That's good to hear, but if you're a heavy user, I think you might find some trouble..

Near the bottom when they talk about battery:

"In all, it took us about 3 hours with constant usage (Web, Twitter, Facebook, games, and YouTube video) to kill the battery completely."

I don't agree with that. I think that is a zealot thing that has been out there for years. Along with build quality.

My experience with Moto phones is less than stellar, and I had quite a few. I have always thought that most other phones on the market were better choices. Same with cable TV and the STBs.

Not quite that bad. I was down to about 50% after about 7 hours of intermittent use today. I don't use the phone much, but Bluetooth and internet quite a bit.

That's quite a shock coming from a Storm where I could go two days like that.

Ugh. Being new, did you use it more than you use the Storm? Or did you have wifi on? Can you think of any excuses as to why it may have drained faster than the Storm?
 
Dropped to 30% after 9 hours of doing almost NOTHING. 75 emails rec'd, two short calls. No location, maps, internet, weather, Wi-Fi, BT, camera or media. Juice Defender active.

My Storm would be at 80%.

From all indications (battery info under settings, plus DEBUG info), difference seems to be in the power consumption caused by relatively poor signal reception of the HTC phones.

Will give it another try tomorrow with a different Incredible and see if anything changes.
 
Ive had my phone on now for about 14 hours. A few quick phone calls (maybe 40 minutes total). About 60 some text messages today. A few emails, a little bit of browsing through Android Apps and Maybe one or two YouTube videos. Also checked out the news via the built in browser. Also messed around a little bit with Google Maps.

I have a yellow indicator light on the battery now. So what's that mean 20 to 30% left or so?

Usage

Android System 44%
Cell Standby 13%
Bluetooth 13%
Display 12%
Maps 11%
Phone Idle 5%
Car Panel 2%

Is this good or bad?
 
ok, ive had mine for over a week now and the battery is finally "warmed up" 15 hours of regular use for me, i live in a rural area, searching for signals often....and the battery is still at 25%.....phone says up time: 27:20:30, awake time: 3:58:31. 14h 59m 19s since unplugged....FWIW

No it isn't a problem with 2.1, everyone was having the same issue with 1.5, we all thought that 2.1 would help, some said it was a little better. But I always had that issue with my Eris, but it never affected my service. I always hoped that they could fix it but it wasn't that big of a deal to me since I could send/receive calls no problem.
