Root Unable to flash ROMs

subsist

Newbie
Having rooted my phone I have decided to help a friend do the same.

His phone is hboot 0.93, PVT3, s-on GSM desire. The only difference is the 3 network branding. The phone rooted just fine using the unrEVOked method but ROMs don't seem to install, despite an installation complete message in the clockworkmod recovery. The superuser app is visible in the app drawer so I am certain the rooting process was successful. I made a goldcard also, not that this is particularly relevant.

So far I have only tried cyanogenmod7 ROMs but every time the phone hangs on the HTC boot screen. I've made a nandroid backup that successfully restores the phone to the original pre-flashing state but obviously a new ROM is preferable.

Any hints or pointers please! I have no idea why the phone keeps hanging.

The ROM is from this link

Nope, everything I've done has been through clockworkmod. I don't think the phone has ROM manager installed, seeing as the ROM is still HTC standard. The only noticeable change to the phone is the superuser app.

hmm, you are doing a wipe data/factory reset in recovery before flashing right?

also after flashing you will need to flash gapps straight afterwards

Rastaman, I believe you have hit the nail; I'm doing the factory reset now. Do I clear the data from the recovery menu or somewhere in sense settings?

EDIT: misread the post slightly. Reseting from clockworkmod menu.
