Root unable to run "fastboot" commands.

I currently got the Windows 8 upgrade on my laptop, and adb works, but i cannot get fastboot to work for the life of me! it just hangs on "Waiting for device" if i type "fastboot devices" no devices show up. Pretty sure its a driver issue. Anyone have any idea for drivers on windows 8? I've looked at a bunch of guides saying that it will work, but to no avail yet.
