Help Unable to Scan for Networks

I have the same issue with my Super Pad III running anrdoid 2.3, but
there is no data/wifi directory and no bcm_supp.conf file anywhere on the system.
I have rooted it and searched all through the directories.

I'm having this issue on my sensation xe - it's rather intermittent and very annoying! I've rooted my.phone in an attempt to delete the wifi config file but I can't find it in /data - thoughts anyone?
Ta, Jason

Step 1: Install Ghost Commander file manager program (available via Marketplace) OR if you cannotr connect to internet as you do this via WiFi (like I do, read the NOTE below)

Step 2: Open Ghost Commander and go to 'root:/data/wifi' folder

Step 3: Rename or Delete 'bcm_supp.conf' file

THAT'S IT! My WiFi is working again. Good luck!

-----------
NOTE for those who cannot install Ghost Commander due to lack of WiFi to connect to MarketPlace via the internet.

Go to: Ghost Commander and click on the 'Downloads' link.

-----------
AN ADDITIONAL NOTE for users with Install Locked phones such as AT&T's Galaxy S. Install via the .

Go to: Settings | Applications | Development | USB Debugging

(this ought to work in general - I have installed other apps this way, not this one as I already had it on my phone)

HOPE THIS HELPS. Of course the normal disclaimers apply. I guarantee nothing, just posting what worked for me.

Hello. Sorry for dredging up this old post, but after searching for a solution to this problem, which doesn't involve having to be a rooting expert or something, this seemed like worth trying because: a) I am sick of restarting every time my wi-fi fails (several times a day); b) I do not want to do yet another factory reset.

I installed Ghost Commander and found the 'root/data' folder, but is says it is empty ie. no 'wi-fi' folder, so I cannot find 'bcm_supp.conf'.

Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks in advance!

Quick update. Obviously this won't be the solution for everyone but I think it's worth putting up here.

First off, my wifi scan problem has been with a fairly new Desire S on gingerbread 3.5.

Yesterday I uninstalled Easy Battery Saver, which amongst other things controls wifi settings eg. at night. Since uninstalling I have had faultless scanning and connection to wifi networks. I move in and out of our wifi zone at work all through the day and since uninstalling EBS it has had no problems picking up and switching to the the wifi. Moving around outside last night I watched it pick up and move between networks with no bother. Earlier in the week I was having to restart the phone many times a day to get the wifi connected.

I am pretty sure I had settings in EBS all ok, although I'm no expert. But, for me uninstalling it seems to have done the trick.

This seems to be resetting the wireless connection.please set your ip from dhcp to static and that should solve the issue!!hope this helps!thank you.

I got this problem on my Samsung Dart T499 I rooted the phone and was unable to find the bcm_supp.conf file so I had to an entire reset. Any ideas here?

Hello!

I've bought the Desire S a few days ago, and had this similar problem. I also tried everything possible, disabling WiFi, rebooting, etc... but when i uninstalled GO Power Master, i've have had no problems with WiFi ever since. So i think, some power saving apps maybe causing (at least some) of these problems.
