Two days ago, I received the 2.2 download... it bricked my phone. I had to use my insurance to replace it because of the red water mark (from last Feb). Verizon would not even try to flash it, but just washed their hands...

My Droid was a 38/09 build.

Nope. Mine's running fine.
I did a forced update.

I forced mine, there are only 2 issues I have on mine and both are very easy to live with for the benefits that 2.2 brought me.

1. One of my dumb games that I play to pass time (Racing Live) has really bad ghosting now. after I move the screen up or down or change screens I have to click the home button on the phone then go back into the game to read what the page says.
2. When exiting a program (back button out of it) my home screen takes 2 seconds for all the icons and widgets to show up. if I am in a program and click the home button on the phone everything shows up fine.,

As I said both of these are very easy to live with with the advantages that 2.2 has brought.

I am considering doing the forced 2.2 update on my droid. Do you think I should just wait for the OTA update? When is the update expected to be out now, I heard there may be some sort of delay again. Thanks for your input

For the reports that are starting to popup on tech blogs the update to FRF01B is going to continue and people will then be updated to FRF22 from there. So I would go ahead and force it if your interested. It appears you are going to have to at some point

If you force the OTA then you will still get the next one when it comes. FRG01B and FRG22 are build numbers. Like version numbers of the android os kinda. I dont know the difference between the two but FRG22 is probably just bug and security fixes for FRG01B
