A member posted this in one of the ctmod threads. The guy made it for users who don't use the cell service on the phone. I haven't used it but thought it.would be worth a try.

Airplane mode is.the way to go IMHO.
 
you won't have 3g(data) if you dont activate it, but the phone radio still searches for a signal and connects to towers and such, killing the battery. airplane mode it.
 
thanks again wet, got root.gonna hit it tomorrow. still plan on removing dialer let you know how that goes, now I dont want my grand niece accessing super user and other in app tray can i use titan to freeze SU and others? or will that break root?
 
Freezing su is probably a bad idea. Personally I would go into the su settings and set it to auto-deny requests.

also there are several launchers and/or apps that allow you to hide apps from the app drawer, so they would at least be out of sight.
 
You can just take the app draw and move to garbage can and get rid of it and you can still access it by the hard info key then selecting applications. Just put what can be used on the home screens and this way it is harder with more steps to access the app drawer.
 
I'm with LV... I would not disable SU. As he said, you can go into it's settings and set it to auto-deny. As for the app drawer, there are quite a few ways to lock it. You may even want to consider one of the APP LOCKING apps in the market. This would allow you to lock SU or any other app if you think it's needed. Good luck and let us know how it goes. :)

Ok, there is a rooted ROM in here that is basically stock and already has most of that removed . It's called HALF ASS ROM . Kouma made it and I highly recommend that you use it. Just scroll down through the threads in the rooted section and you'll find it. You'll also have the benefits of the Kouma Kernel. Just read through the thread and see what all it can do.

half ass rom is great i have it on my moms phone

I actually moved Several items there, anreboot, accuweather app, ebook, reader, the new swype beta which I love by the way, gas buddy app, gps speed graph, the new version of maps and market updater, new version of Vending, and xScope browser, though I did that before I installed the new rom, replaced the stock browser. Also I found on market gingerbread stock launcher that has been reworked for froyo and I put that in and replaced the stock launcher

How do you "move" the apps and do you have to be rooted to do so? I would really love to free up some memory that is being used up preloaded apps that I do not use nor do I ever plan to use on my phone. Help please

Yes you have to be rooted to convert an app to a system app.

There are plenty of apps capable of doing it once you have root

Yes, you do as just mentioned, I like Root Explorer, but its not a free app.
Es Explorer on the market is a free app that can do it, Those are do it your self manually options.

Things like titanium backup, not the free version though, can do this for you automatically, though again you need to be rooted.

I have not looked into any of the automatic apps so other then TB I could not tell you what will do it.

I used Dolphin HD for a long time. Then I switched to Boat. Boat seemed to use less battery for some reason.
 
I agree Wy. I've started using Chrome since I've switched phones though. I still like Boat though and may end up going back to it. It's just that Chrome syncs with my pc's browser and has all of my bookmarks. :D

to me chrome is too much of a hog, memory, physical space, all of it. so is firefox.:)

the actual app to download is huge.

I have boat, but do not use it often, I use xScope. I think its now a paid app but I have had it since I had the prevail in 2011 and I never get ads or upsell messages.
Though I do have hosts file to keep ads away. lol

I agree. Fortunately, the phone I have now has more than enough power to handle Chrome. :D

Yup, mine came w/ with my stock ROM too. Like I mentioned earlier, the main reason I use it is because it has all of my bookmarks. When I want to look for something quickly, I use Boat. :D;)
