Universal Androot

Anyone used this on the Motorola Droid? I've seen that it's not supported but I've also heard that it works just fine. I'd also appreciate any feedback as to if it worked fine and didn't expierence any problems afterwards.

it works just fine. I have tested it out a few times

Ok, I need to do some research before rooting so I know what I'm doing but this seems the easiest. Then get ROMmanager and such, but I need to learn what to with ROM's and Kernels.

I did it yesterday and it seems to have gone smoothly. Already bought Rom Manager and SetCPU and installed Titanium Backup.

Heheheh thanks.. right now I am just working up the courage to install a custom rom.

Lithium Mod thru Rom manager is the easy route and an awesome rom !!! You can choose your theme, kernel, fonts and many other things all in one shot.

I am still running this rom and absolutely love it.
I went with P3's standard voltage 1200 kernel and the watermark'D theme and passed on everything else.

I also think you would be very happy with this setup. You can check it out here.

Yea it works fine, although I use EasyRoot myself, the developer seems to update it faster for my OG Droid anytime theres an update.

Ok I think I've done enough research to feel comfortable with this. One thing I'm unsure about is backing my phone up, and then recovering the backups later if you dislike what you did. If someone could give me the run down on that it would be much appreciated. Also, should I backup first before I Root using Universal Androot. I was just going to root it, install Set CPU and wireless tether and stuff, not mess with any ROM's yet.

Nandroid back up I have heard is the best one for backups, but I had an issue getting it to install, i used Titiaium backup from the market, and it worked great, even restored sms messages and call log.
