Root unlocked bootloader - may have lost root?

Hello, this is my first time undertaking the marvelous adventure of ROMs and phone tinkering, so I'm new here.

I have an Atrix 4G with Bell. Running 2.3.6

First I rooted the phone

Then downloaded CWM -> made the recovery (5.0.2.0) (went smoothly, no problems giving the program root access to do this)

I then unlocked the bootloader following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302423

I am currently on the last step of the "Proper Recover"
DO NOT FORGET TO DO THIS PART: After the install of RomRacers recovery boot up your phone. Open up your favourite file browser (I used Astro file manager to do this ) and navigate to /system/etc/ and delete the file called 'install-recovery.sh'

The unlocking was a little tedius (ran into some hangups) but went smoothly and everything is working with my phone still.

Problem is I can't seem to access /systems/etc though Astro or ES File Explorer. Android Commander isn't detecting my phone, either.

I've tried using su in a terminal on my phone and got "Permission Denied".

So it sounds to me like I can't get root access anymore (my best guess), something must have changed when I unlocked the bootloader maybe?

If this is the case, do I just go ahead and redo the rooting process?

FWIW I can't boot into android recovery either. I get the android with the exclamation screen, but I can't get a menu up or anything. I've tried opening it using the POWER button instead of volume up, I've tried pressing the power button at that screen to bring up a menu, I've tried tapping the bottom right corner, left corner, general region, etc.

Many thanks.

I'm completely new too
I've unlocked bootloader (2.3.4 Hong Kong version ME860) and flashed CM9 and CM7, both already rooted without needing to do anything tho

Hmm... I'm not really familiar with the rooting process of your device but I am a little confused. If you were already rooted, why did the bootloader need to be unlocked? I guess I don't understand that part.

The first suggestion I have would be this:
If you still have CWM recovery on your phone, boot into that and flash the superSU patch. See if that gives you root access... I will also see if I can find someone who knows a little more about the atrix to pop in over here and take a look.
