1. You run adb reboot recovery comand from phone, not from PC. On phone just run reboot recovey from terminal under root.
2. If you use CWM from first post, it CAN'T DO wipe after you pres Yes for Factory reset.

generally it is better than stock rom.
not working sim card switch key is the main problem.

persist.radio.multisim.config=dsds
line from /system/build.prop

I think in kernel. But I don't have (not even seen) d160...

I haven't unlocked the bootloader befor flashing the recovery, that's probably why.

Nope.Tried to make my own kernel,since i think there is where the issue lies, but i failed miserably and gave up. Im running stock now.

I've got a D160, unfortunately I can't give it away. Would it help to have an image (or one per partition) of the internal memory? Could also offer you an adb connection to it over ssh.

Edit: I'd also be willing to put some effort into helping to port it; I've got significant experience with C programming and unix administration, I am somewhat new to the Android world though, so there's quite a getting-started barrier..

Now, as per

I am somewhat new to the Android world though

I'm slightly unsure as to what's the correct way to install that. I figure that's the .zip which i'd eventually apply as an update from my sd card (been there while rooting). Do I still need to go through the "install bootloader" and "install CWMR" steps, and if so, using the D170 files for those (as listed in the first post)?
Sorry for the newbie questions.
