Help Unplug from charger, screen not lighting up. Why designed this way?

Owner of the OG Evo and LTE Evo, and have loved them both. One of my favorite functions when unplugging from the charger is that the screen lights up (showing you e-mails, messages, missed calls, etc).

Why in the world would the designers of the LTE Evo not include this function? When unplugging, you are ready to use your phone right?

Nope. Often times when I unplug, it's.because I am about to walk out the door.

I agree would be nice for option.

Maybe just set yours to Stay Awake while plugged in?

It's not really that big of a deal, and I know everyone has different habits.

I just wanted to know if I'm missing something since I loved this about the OG Evo (it lit up for like 5 seconds or so and then went back to sleep). Seems like this would be a feature of the newer gen phone.

My photon doesn't light up either when unplugged. it was a bit of an adjustment when I went to that from the original Evo. It would be nice if it were a setting that could be switched to how you want it.

Both the OG Evo and the Evo 3D lit up when you plugged in and unplugged. For me it was annoying cause the only time I plugged in was when I was going to bed. And in the morning when i unplugged, it went straight into my pocket. Wasn't a big deal to just anticipate it and shut it off. So now I'm actually happy that the screen stays off.

-edit-
it appears that the screen stays off only in A/C charging mode. USB mode the screen comes on still.

when i undock the phone form the car dock, it will light up. when im in the house OR on AC power (using an external battery pack that shows itself to the phone as AC) the phone stays off.

personally, i prefer it to stay off at all times. i saw it as an inconvenience in the legacy evo brand phones to light up with removed from power.

I agree with martronixx and novox -- this is an improvement to me, but as they say, different strokes...

X2 on it being an improvement... It was solo annoying when the screen would light up when putting it on the charger... I just wanna "set it and forget it" lol not have to worry about turning the screen off after I plug it in

Agreed, improvement for me as well ;) IMHO shows LTEVO as being refined and more of a computing device then just a phone. I be pretty bent if my laptop turned on every time plug/unplugged from AC. ;)

It would not kill them to make things like this optional, rather than just "improve" them to the new way.

Often, new is done for the sake of new.

Looks like we are in the minority-everytime i pick up my phone, i want to see if i have a mail or message and I loved that five second opportunity to see if anything is waiting for me.

I had no idea that lighting up for five seconds could be that annoying to anyone, but as someone else said: different strokes/folks. As amazing as this phone is, having the option would be nice.
