Root Unrevoked help

So recently I've tried rooting my EVO. I installed the drivers, downloaded unrevoked and tried getting it to root. Every time i try it says "Error: Failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?" and i looked up what to do on google. Some suggestions i found were to reset the factory settings so i did that and tried rooting again but i still got the same message. What should i do?

Ok first we need your Hboot version goto settings>applications and uncheck fastboot. Shutdown Phone Hold volume down key and power button until white screen with andy skating post everything that screen says
