Root Unroot Evo 4G

Lurker
This is my first time here, I may not be posting in the right area of the android forums, if you can direct me it would be fine.
I unknowingly purchased a rooted HTC Evo 4G for my daughter, she ran into a problem where it kept coming up with an error message which she didn't remember then it went into a continuous reboot which could only be stopped by removing the battery. Unknowingly, I brought the phone to Sprint for repair because she has insurance on it which I took out for her years ago because shes careless with her phones, I didn't know it was a rooted phone till they told me they cant work on it because it was "rooted". I only found out what rooted meant at that time.
I can build a computer, repair my furnace, do electrical work and other things BUT when it comes to cell phones, rooting & unrooting I am nothing. In being we have a rooted phone they can't work on it or replace it if it cracks or breaks. So for that reason I need to get it back to a unrooted spec I guess with no watermark if possible where she can bring it to Sprint for repair whenever she needs it & I don't have to be involved with her problems with her phone.
I cannot get the computer to recognize the phone either or htc sync to find the phone either. I am on Win XP Pro.
I assume, if I am correct in being I cannot link it to my computer it makes it that much more difficult if not impossible to accomplish what I need, which is bring the phone to Sprint specs.
There are many Smart minds in this forum & I believe if you can't help me then no one can.. I would realllly appreciate any concrete help you can give me.
I was able to get in the phone for info which is:

Supersonic EVT2-3 Ships S-Off
HBOOT -2.10.0001
Microp-041F
Touch Panel ATMELC03-16ac
Radio-2.15.00.11.19
October 15 2010

I would GREATLY appreciate any help you can offer to accomplish this task.
P.S. This is my first post in this forum.

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok so you will need this guide:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html

it as an unrooting section. basically you will flash the s-on tool and then use the PC36IMG file to install the stock rom and recovery.
