Root Unroot failed - how to escape this brick?

Got the Incredible within the last month, and it had 2.2 on it.

I rooted, and left it stock.
OTA kept cranking at me to update, so I decided to Unroot, update and reroot.

I did the PB31IMG.zip just like this guy posted here on the forums, following same video, same download, etc;
e.g., maybe SLCD vs AMOLED wrong unroot? linky

Same symptoms -- downgrade looked to to OK, when it rebooted, NOTHING & black screen.

However -- my phone will not show little LED lit, won't turn on, doesn't vibrate, etc.

There has to be a way for this thing to *at least* power up, try to boot, etc.

The unroot attempt looked to go perfect (fat32, PB31IMG.zip, etc. vol-down, power, menu, vol-up, unzip/install, vol-up reboot) -- but never turned back on.

Just to be clear, I've tried pulling battery, booting with usb connected/disconnected, tried a different battery -- it won't make the little LEd light and vibrate.

I've tried vol-down + power, only power, etc -- it just won't turn on.

I've googled the heck out of this, read forums, etc.
I'm trying to find a way to get this to power on enough to have some recovery on the sdcard.
 
So did you use the file in that thread or another. You mentioned "video". There is another thread out there with a video that reverts you back to 2.1. Is it possible you loaded that file instead and do you know if you have an slcd?
 
Holy heck -- I left it plugged in USB for a while.
Its turning on, got the white HBOOT screen.

Its now trying to unpack the new img I got from this post.
 
I'd originally used one from a Youtube video thread.
Oh -- posted the wrong LINK. I posted the how-to recover that I'm following.

The thing I did was same as this guy -- same video, same downloaded file, same observation.

Phone is now walking me through initial configuration screens.
So, I'm guessing it was the SLCD / AMOLED issue.

HW from menu/settings says: 0003
 
Alls well -- unrooted, v2.2 (2.6.32.17-g9a2fc16 kern)
Missing all configs, apps, etc.

I'll wait before I do a restore. See how this goes for the night :-)

*edit* -- this is the current version with update. (sw3.26.605.1)
So, I shouldn't be seeing any "please update" messages.
