Root unroot problems!!!

I rooted my phone last year using unrevoked, but it recently had to be replaced and got another one, but for the life of me i can't get this new one one rooted.

Device Build Number: 3.70.651.1 CL294884 release-keys
Android Version: 2.2
HBoot Version: 2.10.0001
unrevoked Version Used: None (brand new EVO)

Other info..
Supersonic EVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-2.10.0001
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
RADIO-2.15.00.11.19

Now I downloaded recovery-RA-supersonic-v2.3.img as well as PC36IMG.zip
Place them both on a fresh SD card in the root directory, performed the power, volumn down procedure to get into HBoot and it does not ask me to update. If I select recovery, it gives me the red triangle on a black screen only.

I read and re-read both the root guide as well as Amon_Ra's recovery page and I still can't get it done.

Its driving me nuts, I don't remember this being this hard last year when I rooted my first EVO.

Any ideas?

ok so did you run unrevoked to get you s-off? once you have s-off then you can switch recoveries.
