Root Unroot while on aosp?

can i unroot from gingerbreak while i have aosp on?

edit: i went ahead and did it because i read somewhere that i could. however after unrooting (i double checked) i still have aosp rom can i go ahead and factory restore from settings?

DO NOT RESTORE FROM THE SETTINGS MENU!!! Sorry for the caps but you will brick your phone! If you want to restore do it from recovery.
