Root unroot

so i want to unroot to get buy back for new 4g lte so what do i need to download besides the s on unrevoked any radios,hboot etc........ and what ota do i need
 
We need your hboot to ensure the correct guide


Pull the battery out of the phone, put it back in, hold power + volume down to get to hboot.

Post your hboot number.

ok you will need to either downgrade your radios back to 2 .15.00.11.19 which was for software version 3.70.

there is a couple of ways to do this.

1,you can either use this ruu: PC36IMG_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed. however, you will need to get a recovery afterwards to flash the s-on tool.

you get get amon ra here:PC36IMG_RA_2.3.zip

2.the other way is to downgrade your radio. here is the one you want:EVO_Radio_2.15.00.11.19.zip


to install these files:
1.rename the files to PC36IMG. make sure that you are not adding an extra .zip to the name as windows hides extensions.

2.transfer the file to the root (not in any folder) of the sd card.

3.go into the bootloader (power off then press and hold power+vol down).

4.if it is named right, it should ask you do update. select yes.

this will work for the PC36IMG ruu, the amon ra file, and the radio file i linked.

once you have downgraded you radio then you can just flash the s-on tool and re-use the 3.70 ruu to get you back to stock with stock recovery.

The RUU is a program you run from your computer with the phoke hooked up via USB.

I don't think you don't change the name of the S-on tool. If it doesnt say to do it in the guide dont do it

the s-on tool is flashed thru recovery that is why it is the first thing you do. cuz if you run the ruu you will not have a custom recovery to flash it.

so it is basically a two step process:
1.flash the s-on tool
2.run the ruu to complete the process.

edit and the ruu can be either in the form of the PC36IMG file or the ruu that rxpert is talking about by running it on the computer.

edit#2:the ruu i first linked earlier is in the form of a PC36IMG file.

the link above rooting for dummies guide says to just flash the ruu in recovery IM confused now lol

the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html does not say to flash the ruu in recovery. it does say to fash the s-on tool which is what you want.

here it is from the guide:
TEP 6: RECOVERY MODE
Hold down VOL DOWN + POWER until device boots into a White Screen.
Move to RECOVERY by using the VOL DOWN toggle and select by using POWER button.

STEP 7: FLASH ZIP
Select unrevoked-foreverson.zip in the selection area and press POWER button to complete the FLASH.

STEP 8: IS S-ON, ON?
When the FLASH is complete, Reboot the device into the Bootloader screen by holding down VOL + POWER until it boots into the White Screen. Check to make sure it says S-ON on the TOP. If it does, select RECOVERY with the VOL DOWN toggle. (continue to step 9)

If it says S-OFF, repeat STEPS 5 - 7 until it says S-ON.
(NOTE: If still showing S-OFF after a few flashes, go ahead and proceed to step 9. It may show S-OFF, but it is really set to S-ON. Once you flash the PC36IMG.zip file, it should display S-ON.)

STEP 9: TURN OFF DEVICE
Power down the device by holding the Power Button for 2 seconds. Allow it to shutdown completely. Wait about 10 seconds before next step.

STEP 10: RECOVERY MODE
Hold down VOL DOWN + POWER until device boots into a White Screen.
Move to RECOVERY by using the VOL DOWN toggle and select by using POWER button.

STEP 11: TRANSFER PC36IMG.zip TO SDCARD
Connect the MICRO USB Cord. There is an option for this in both the Amon RA and Clockwork recovery.
Transfer the PC36IMG.zip to the ROOT of your SDCard.

STEP 12: UNHOOK USB FROM PC + USB OFF
SAFELY remove the USB from the PC and then turn OFF USB in Recovery.

STEP 13: TURN OFF DEVICE
Power down the device by holding the Power Button for 2 seconds. Allow it to shutdown completely. Wait about 10 seconds before next step.

STEP 14: BOOTING TO HBOOT
Hold down VOL DOWN + POWER until device boots into a White Screen.
The Device will check for the PC36IMG.zip and then ask you YES/NO to apply the newly introduced update. Press VOL UP = YES or VOL DOWN = NO.

Once Completed, press VOL UP to reboot.

YOU HAVE JUST BEEN UNROOTED! BAM!

MAC's will automatically unzip files unless you turn that off. Safari->Preferences->General
Uncheck "Open Safe Files After Downloading"

Once you turn that off, download the RUU file Ocn linked above. Then just drag and drop onto the root of your SD card (not in any folders). Make sure it's named PC36IMG.zip exactly. Boot your phone to hboot and the bootloader will scan and load the RUU. Press volume up and KA-POW!! Unrooted. :)

ugh frustrated now i reboot into bootloader to down grade my radio and it doesnt find it on root of my sd card it says "parsing" and theres no update? i also tried flashing the s-on tool and it says its the wrong radio? so what do i do again lol. thanks for all your help

my radio is 2.15.00.0808 and my hboot is 2.10.0001

any help would be greatly appreciated (i also downloaded the downgrade radio on a mac and a pc and they both said (parsing)

Make sure the files you are downloading are not being unzipped by your MAC. The files need to be in a .zip format. If you follow the settings instructions I showed above for your safari browser, it won't unzip the files after download.

The radio and thr RUU files need to be in a .zip format for the phone to flash them. :)

yep there all in zip format when they got flashed
 
unless the radio zip is a bad download(parsing again) i just tried it again. i named it PC36IMG.zip that's right IM sure

ok weird. it could be a bad download. try re-downloading it and try again. if that does not work then we can try and run a ruu to upgrade to your current radio which will also change the bootloader. you will then have to use a different method to get s-on again with a different guide.

basically my idea is to run the PC36IMG_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.54.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.0808_NV_2.15_release_220182_signed ruu which will change everything from the bootloader, radio, rom, and recovery. once that is done then all you will need to do is run the hex edit PC36IMG file and then run the same ruu to finish the process.

will that GB guide for me since i rooted mine with unrevoked(i rooted mine before the revoul. came out for GB evo's )
