Root Unrooting help

mtl

Lurker
Hi All,

I need to unroot my desire for a warranty fix. I previously used unrevoked to root the phone, took a backup and then flashed cyanogenmod.

Right now I've flashed back to my backup, so I'm running stock firmware which has been rooted, and a custom recovery. As I understand it I need to use flash_image to re-flash my recovery image, and then finally remove the superuser.apk to get back to stock?

Does this sound about right?

-Cheers mtl.

Thanks Shauny, I'll start looking, not seen one for 3 yet. Out of curiousity whats stopping me using the recovery.img I already have? I've got the sdk installed (i'm a professional unix guy) and I'm quite happy to poke about on the command line. It'd be nice to dd the recovery.img :)

haha :) no worries. I'm a sucker for command line stuff, love it. You get to know how everything works! :)

maybe suroot, rasta or hadron could let me know what I can do with my recovery.img

Thanks Shauny.

well you could only flash it if you were S-off via fastboot, meaning you would remain s-off after flashing it, thus making the act of flashing a recovery pointless.

Its an RUU for a warranty repair.

Hello Guys... i had been getting crazy looking for a way to unroot and remove recovery clockworkmod to HTC EVO 4G STOCK. tried different ways but nothing can someone give me some dirrection? please.
thank you
Theo

Oh well, the RUU killed it good and proper, failed at the end. It now won't turn on, doesn't even vibrate. Guess I'll take my chances on a warranty fix.

-Cheers Max.

Well, I ran the RUU, it went through update with the bargraph updating, then it said it'd failed, and to pull the cable and battery. When I pulled the cable the phone display showed that it'd failed on the radio code partition. Once I replaced the battery, nothing, won't turn on doesn't even vibrate.

actually if it bricked by running an RUU then you can probably get a warranty repair from them.

just tell them it wont turn on, they should see the radio stack is fried and recover the phone
