Root Unrooting Question - Unable to get S-ON

I need to unroot and flash stock because I need to take the phone in for a camera issue (froze/rebooted on unrooted stock and doing the same on rooted MikG).

I followed the instructions in the Rooting For Dummies Guide GB, but I'm unable to get S-ON. My HBOOT is 6.16.1002. When installing stock it is bypassing the bootloader, which I assume is my problem.

FYI - I am back to stock, just not S-ON.

Can someone please help me?

Cheers!
Doug

If you follow everything in this guide http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html in the unrooting section it should work. Make sure you do both sections and flash both of the files listed there and it should work. I had the same issue as you and this worked for me :)

Okay I reran it and everything looks correct to me, but I still have the tether option when I plug my phone into USB. If I am truly unrooted and back to stock, this shouldn't be an option right? I could be wrong on that....

Below is my HBOOT screen:

You should have the option to tether regardless if you are rooted or not. If you're rooted though, you won't get charged from sprint

Thanks Andy! I knew that I could tether without being rooted by paying for it, but wasn't sure if the option was available on the USB Connection Type (Charge Only, HTC Sync, Disk Drive and USB Tethering).

I was able to perform OTA updates from HTC and Sprint, so I think I am good to go now.

Cheers!
