Root unrooting&rooting

I being new around the evo am not completely sure but I believe if you just want gingerbread there are many roms that you can flash to your rooted phone that are built on the stock gingerbread.
Both with sense interface and plain android.

it' been a while since ive played with my phone.

unrooting is ok, it is the updating part that is not recommended. if you do the rooting process is much more involved afterwards. so that will be up to you. but going forward if you ever upgrade your phone with the idea of rooting the next phone you get, now is a good time to get into a good habit. on any phone never accept an ota. all you will need to do is flash a rom that has it built in. here is some roms you can try if you want the ota:

but why stay on stock when you have mikg3.0. it is way better then stock and has pretty much removed ciq qhich is what mostly the latest ota removed.
