Help Update 2.29.405.5 problem :(

Hi guys,

I've recieved this update OTA tonight, I have a debranded Desire with goldcard, update 2.29.405.2 was amooth and good for me and the wifi didnt die. But for this one, it downloads and reboots the phone, then it shows its installing but halfway i get a picture of a phone with a huge red triangle sign on it and it stays that way forever. So I removed the battery and started the phone again and it was good, but still the update wasnt succesful. I have about 40mb internal memory free which i guess should be fine cuz the update ia less than 5mb. So what should I do and whats the update is about ?

Thank You :)

it's not the same update... update from the first post is newer, i got report for it today, i didn't update yet, i am waiting to see if there are any problems with it...
appreciate any comments on 2.29.405.5 :)

no one will know if no one updates

same rules apply to that thread though
and yes you will need more space than 40mb as it downloads it but needs space to unpack it and install it aswell

The other thread linked in here applies to ALL OTA updates btw - if you're rooted you're best staying clear!!

Anyway, seems people that debranded cannot install this OTA. Those on true unbranded phones seem to be OK. RUU would seem to be the only method for debranded users

Hmmm, I have two handsets that I debranded myself and one installed OTA and one wasn't offered it.
I actually prefer doing it the RUU way anyway, seems quicker and cleaner to me.

its a slot based system for updates.
they alot a list of imeis within the database a slot.

RUU will always seem cleaner as it wipes it :P its like doing a format on windows.

Same, my phone wasn't offered it, so I just updated it using RUU.

I had 26MB when I downloaded it. Now I have 31. Some people on a dutch android forum are experiencing the same.

My storage space hasnt changed, but see it'd trying to add a YouTube account to sync. Anyone know what update actually was for?

Not sure on the internal memory increase BUT I know that the no. code of this is similar to an update that came not so long back...

I havent tried anything with it yet, but I have a sneaking feeling that *THIS* update .5 is actually a fix to the other .2 update which was causing people issues with flash/wifi etc...at least I hope it is....im gonna keep an eye on this to see if it is :)

YES, its true my internal space was 101MB, but after this update its 107 MB. I don't know how. its cool update..........

I still have problem and cant install this update !! it shows an error !! :( i have goldcard but NOT ROOTED !! helppp :(

do you have the same problem? how do you know as neither of you have written what error you get and at what point

the problem is described in the first post... you hit install, the phone powers down then you get the normal updating screen with the little green bar going across, gets about half way then you get a red triangle with a "!" in it and a pic of a phone and thats how it stays.

how much space have you got left on the device internal storage
and how much space have you got left in sdcard?
