People reporting 100% uptime after the update, are you at least giving it a few hours and letting it go to standby? You know rebooting resets the uptime?
Yes I am gving it a few hours. And yes, I know rebooting resets the uptime.

Is anyone else having trouble getting the update to work? I have been all day today and cannot get the phone to upgrade the software. I have tried several times to turn the device off and back on, even taking out the battery. Still nothing
I see my software version is 1.22.651.1I had the same problem. Found out that my firmware version was older than the one the update requires. Check to see if your firmware matches this post http://androidforums.com/sprint-htc-hero/19317-update-available-sprint-3.html#post123614. If it does, then nothing I can really tell you. If it doesn't, then you have to update with a RUU to that version. Follow this link Link to Stock HTC Hero ROM - xda-developers. Look for it in the first post. I had to get HTC Sync to actually see my device before I could run the update. Windows XP worked just fine with the supplied HTCSync.exe software on your phone's SDCard.
Right now, I'm updated to the most recent version. Everything is running smoothly!
thanks tzbf2006! great piece of information.Yup, just use the link to download the RUU update (100mb, slow download too) and then run it. I only had a problem when I was using my Windows 7 system and the drivers were not working right. So, I had a system with Windows XP (Vista I think works as well) to install HTC Sync software first (located on phone's SD Card) and then run the RUU program to update the phone. I know it sounds odd, but it worked for me.

can anyone else confirm tzb's findings?
I was hoping this would fix the -press menu button twice to release the lock screen- bug.
Does anyone know a way to keep this from happening aside from enabling the security screen? The security routine is just a pain in the but to use day in and day out. Truely one of the most anoying things the HERO does in my opinion.
This is not a "bug"...this is by design. It's even listed in the manual. Personally, I don't mind it nor do I have an issue with it ever unlocking itself, but that's just me.
Again though, this is not a "bug". If it is causing you issues, you would be justified to call it "poor design", but a "bug", it is not.
Forgive me if I am wrong but I thought the purpose of a lockscreen was to make it very difficult to access the phone by accident. So it is easy for me to call this a bug by mistake. It is a very poor design choice IMO. My phone lives in my pocket and has unlocked itself a number of time. (very, very annoying)
I just wish there was a way to make the only way to unlock your phone be with the screen slide operation. Since few things will interact with a capacitive touch screen besides your finger, it makes almost impossible to "butt" dial someone. Simply pressing a button twice is way way to simple.
P.S. If some one from HTC Or Sprint read this:
Please make my Flipping Flip Clock Flip!!! Or at least give us a SWITCH to flip ON or OFF the animation on it!! On the next UPDATE!! Now that it's running allot smoother there's no excuse!!
I think it un-rooted my phone. Wireless tether for root user and sipdroid not working anymore. Help! Now for the million dollar question, does it un-root a rooted phone?
I'm not having sleep issues. I'm using the stock message app and handcent. I'm sticking with handcent due to the fact it compresses pictures so you are able to send it via text.

Howdy! I have not used the MSM features of the Hero yet because of the issues. In your statement here, are you saying that the stock message app does NOT compress picture images, versus that Handcnet app, which does??
I ask because I am wondering if there is any reason to even bother with the stock message app if you have Handcent loaded??? What say?? Again, l am a newbie to text messaging with pictures. Thanks for any comments and help.
