Update... bueller...anyone?

ya no... no update still... 10:45am in NJ...

not all too concerned about it, since media hub is meh at best for me.... but curious if there really are other fixes in the update........

no update for my wife's Epic still (Saturday morning west coast). The thing that concerns me is not this update specifically, but that if you go to the Sprint support discussion there are a couple of problems. The sprint employee says that they were being rolled out in batches that take a day or so, and then open up to all devices - so this has been 3 days now and many folks haven't gotten an update.

Then there are folks that have not received the DG27 update from DG17, and none of the employees or stores seem to know how to force the update. I think the issue here is not whether or not this update is useful, but whether updates will get to these phones at all if there ever is a useful one (Froyo anyone?).

Also - I find it odd that when I click the "Update Android" button, it just slides to a screen that says it's up to date without seeming to go online to "look" for any update - anyone else's phone do it differently?

Got the update finally @ 7:40am west coast time today. Interestingly, it appeared when I was finding plug ins for my dolphin HD browser in the marketplace. Not sure if that helped in getting my update faster. After clicking ok, my epic rebooted amd installed the new update.

I do not see any changes except for the media hub addition.

my update finally came last night or this morning rather about 130-2am somethin like that media hub yea ill definitley pay for movies ive been downloading free tho mine may no be as high quality seein that i couldnt even play a preview of a movie without being connected to wifi or 4g....wich i wasnt close to a wifi hotspot and theres no 4g in charleston WV but that doesnt suprise me dont really notice much difference wouldve rather got it that way than from xda glad i waited but wasnt really stressin it as much as i want Froyo i see it on my brothers EVO and it looks amazing but its fun to do a side by side screen comparison EVO good but Epic is...well epic

Just got done manually installing the update because I got sick of waiting! :) Everything went perfect, followed the instructions to a T. After the phone rebooted the media hub shortcut had changed to a stock android looking shortcut. When I clicked on it, it didn't work. All I had to do was delete the old shortcut, then hold screen, add a new one for media hub. Now it works perfectly.

I'm not sure how much of this is just a placebo effect, but I swear it feels like my device is 'zippier.' Everything is opening and closing instantly! It's like it gained another half gear or something.

Much props to the original poster who provided the link for the dload!

The people saying it is just media hub are incorrect. It includes seven or sop listed minor fixes. Since this update was written at the least 10 days ago it is too early fro fixes on the GPS, upload bugs or 3G battery draw bugs.

I had one phoen update 48 hours ago and the others did not update, but I called tech support and they pushed the update to my other phoens in about a minute.

Try running the Quadrant benchmark app, available free in the Marketplace. Epic4G phones are scoring around 925 to 940. Maybe DI07 has bumped up the performance.

925 is a respectable score but a far cry from devices running Froyo. The EVO with 2.2 scores just above 1300!
yes my Epic benchmarks agaisnt Evo are lower and that is unexpected.Quadrant is a good test becasue it is reflects more everyday real world use than tests that ramp the processor to 100% throughout.

LOL. That's why Cyanogen managed to score 3000+ with his EVO. That benchmark is SERIOUSLY flawed.

I/O flaws aside, nobody seems to realize that Froyo's JIT compiler unrealistically inflates quadrant and linpack scores. The processor isn't really performing that well.

The EVO scored 500-600 in quadrant with stock 2.1. If you look at quadrant pro results, you can see that froyo boosted the EVO's scores by more than 5x. Sooooo yeah. Quadrant = BS.

it will be interesting to see what Froyo does to the Epic scores on Quadrant. They should at least equal the EVO, no?

I just got the DI07 update. Took about 5 minutes to install and restart the phone. Media Hub is now live. Whoop-ti-doo.

This is the "long delayed, never gonna get support from Samsung" update that had everybody's panties in a bunch? Some folks seriously need to get a life.

It should kill the EVO. I'm guessing stock froyo on the Epic will score around 1500. Custom kernels and overclocking should increase it even further. Just a guess though. No way of knowing til we get it... which could take a long time :(

Man... right now I just want it for full flash support.

no update here. tried selecting update firmware a couple times and each time comes back with no update available. BUT, i noticed that it turns off the wifi each time during the OTA search.

anybody sees the same? is it because i have juice defender running? the evo let me do OTA via wifi. seems strange that epic won't.

on vacation in LA still no update here lol, I could manually update but I don't really care. Pretty weird that I haven't gotten it yet though

I also had trouble downloading Quick setting, it failed several times.
And when I was prompted to download MR2 D107, I clicked on download, and it would run for a sec. and stop. What the hell!

For anyone that still has not received the update, and is using JuiceDefender, try disabling it. I got to thinking yesterday that its management of the data interface might be interrupting the download of the update, so I disabled it, and within an hour or 2 I had the update. Could be total coincidence, but if you're really anxious to get the update (and the media hub looks like a letdown to me based on pricing, so if that's what you're anxious about, temper your expectations), it's worth a shot - all you've got to lose is a little juice :).

i think that's just a coincidence as i have juice defender on and received the update notification when i got up this morning. it's just the way sprint is rolling it out.

are you on mobile network or wifi? how's your mobile network strength? i found that it turns off my wifi for firmware search and update, so if mobile network strength is not strong, that might be the problem.

also, how was your battery life at the time?

I tried to update but I got:
assert.failed:apply_patch_check("/system/app/amazonmp3.apk". then a bunch of numbers and letters")
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

I think it's because I uninstalled amazonmp3 app. It sucked and kept opening when I didn't want it to. Anyway, I tried to do a factory reset and that app still wasn't there. Do I have to download the stock rom?

Is a stock ROM available somewhere for download?

Edit: I found the stock ROM and flashed it with Oden. Update completed successfully. Guess I gotta dl all my apps and settings again. LOL

I finally got my update this morning. As soon as I tried to play a YouTube video, it popped on my screen. I too am running JuiceDefender and didn't have to disable it to get the update notification.
