Update prl using QPST

This is what I did I have LG esteem
1. Make sure USB debugging is enabled
2. Download USB driver http://www.mediafire.com/?f2p9kneghvatdao and install on your computer
3. Download 3020 prl or New Prl 3022 Credit goes to LockLady OR even newer PRL 3023 latest prl 3024
4. Download and install qpst 2.7
qpst 2.7 the first qpst download did not work for me but this one did but popped up as trojan but it works http://www.mediafire.com/?gh98iae3vrc49yg
5. Connect phone to computer and enable internet connection on phone.
6. Open device manager expand ports and make note of what com port your USB device is on

7. Open up qpst configuration if com port is not shown select add port and enter com# (# being the one seen @ device manager)

8. Select service programming (phone must be selected to continue)
after phone selection choose this FFA3100-1900 hit ok

9. On the main menu setting tab click read from phone and will obtain phone info it will ask for ur spc

10. Spc code can be obtained through cdma workshop or by using checkesnfree.com or at http://www.whiterabbit.org/android/ Get Spc
11. Look for roam tab and there will be an option under preferred roaming to search for new prl locate it and select write it will ask for ur spc code again

note I'm not responsible for bricking ur phone I've done this before and familiar with the software even though this quick tut should be noob friendly

If one updates to 3024 prl and there are no 3G towers in their area, what then? No phone use?

Confirming this works and installs the new 3024.prl!

One thing was not clear or stated on your steps, at some point the QPST will ask what 'base model' your phone is. If you're using the LG Esteem select CARD5500-1900 from the 'base model' drop down list.

Hope that assist with that step.

then you call *228 from your phone and when automated service comes on say roaming list which will put you back to stock prl for your area/location ect :D

when you plug in your phone click on the notification bar and select USB connection option, then Select "Internet Connection" (that step was left out as well)
 
thank you, I'm currently stuck on step 8 after i click on service programming & click ok I get an online connection error unspecified pop up & my phone is listed as unknown
 
try this when you get to add new port uncheck show serial and usb/qc diagnostic ports only and see if you see your phones com port.
 
instead of my phone being recognized, my esn is showing in that (phone) section, so when i get on the service programming tab my phone isn't being recognized..ots listed as unknown
 
I figured out what step I was stuck on..I had to select card5500-1900, other then that it was very easy..thank u
 
does anyone know the irc channel for the esteem because i have downloaded all the different drivers offered throughout the different threads and yes i have deleted and re installed between changing but yet yet i can not get my phone recognized to update the prl it keeps failing and i already achieved root so my drivers are working please help!!!



EDIT i just realized your in the esteem link talking about the lg optimus m my bad for assuming it was a esteem i should have known better

I used these steps to update the prl to 3024..there were two steps that were not included which I discussed a couple of post above.

One was; after connecting your device, to slide down the notification bar and select the usb option on the drop down menu, once you have selected that option, another screen will open asking what type of connection you want, make sure you select 'INTERNET CONNECTION' which will put your phone in full USB DEBUGGING mode and allow QPST to see your device and for your device manager (on mincrosoft windows) to show your phones port and tell you your com port #

the other step left out was for telling you what your 'base model' of the Esteem is, which you'll need to select from a drop down menu when QPST ask (it did for me, others it might not, but just in case). The 'base model' is: = CARD5500-1900

Yes, it did for me as well, that's how I knew what base model it was but after one of the steps it said your base model is not selected, please select your base model..maybe it was just me...idk

step 2 link doesn't work..but i just messed with the url and i found the list and it downloaded and still got a error..what gives..
