Root update radio necessary for roms?

ok so probably a stupid quesiton but...

in the instructions for flashing roms here (Root Guide - The Incredible List) the 3rd step is updating your radio. right now i have baseband 2.15.00.07.28. is that step still necessary to flash the roms? im not sure if those instructions are a ltitle dated or not and wanted to ask before trying to flash on another radio and bricking my phone! thanks guys

You dont need to. You are running the same radio as current stock already.

yes, but do a nandroid backup first, can not emphasize enough on how important it is to do a nandroid backup before flashing ANYTHING to your phone. And never rename the backups.
