Root Update

I didn't have my Pc with me.
Currently running Midnight Rom, S-Off and Rooted.

-Booted into Recovery
-Patched the OTA via Recovery.
-Patched file PG86IMG.zip via Recovery.
-Patch SU.zip

Done. Everything seems to work fine.

since im s-on i flashed the fix through recovery. would love to see this integrated in future harmonia update so that i dont have to flash this every time i update.

I just did like krowley and took the firmware.zip and renamed it PM86IMG.zip and deleted the hboot and recovery from inside then bootloaded. It worked.

@krowley3 why is your android_info.txt different than the one from firmware zip in Prinny's file?

Does this look right? Flashed the zip and running Harmonia.

This is how you check:

Also note that an easy way to tell if the patches zip installed successfully is by using a root file explorer and navigating to system/customize/AAInfo.txt and verify that it says the following.

TaskID : 289583Project : Shooter_ICS_35_SSKU : Sprint WWE VM[652]ROM Ver : 1.14.652.0Customization Id : 363616RCMS Id : 153

If that is what you have, than the zip flashed correctly.

Project : Shooter_ICS_35_S
SKU : Sprint WWE VM[652]
ROM Ver : 1.13.652.2
Customization Id : 363616
RCMS Id : 99

Can't get the update to stick.

I'm running Harmonia, S-Off, and I'm on HBOOT 1.04 and here's what I did:
- downloaded both files
- booted into bootloader and flashed PG86IMG.zip
- booted into recovery and flashed the OTA update
- noticed I didn't have root anymore, so I booted in recovery and flashed the SuperSU patch
Everything has been working fine since I did this about 6 hours ago. I came from "EVO 3D mode" and here's the 2 major things I've noticed:
- I finally can get a 4G signal in my room! Although it's a poor one, it's still a stable and useable signal, which is a huge plus since I was never able to get one at all in here.
- I don't seem to get texts out of order anymore. There was as thread asking if the times on text messages get messed up and you get texts out of order somewhere (so we know that's a issue this phone had), and well that doesn't seem to be happening anymore. It used to happen every time I texted Bank of America, but it hasn't happened so I'm kind of using that as my test.

Everything else still seems to be pretty much the same. I don't get better signal or anything like that and I still get some delayed text messages (but at least they don't get off order anymore). As far as I know, there's no downsides to taking this update, but I'll keep a close watch on my phone throughout the week.

I took the ota as stock, rooted again, flashed power rom, flashed update and superuser, and well, here I am.

Signal has been steady, no radio shortage, and the tweaking of the power rom has begun.

post the tweaked power rom for meh please!

Can anyone supply a stock recovery that can be installed on our phone without having to go through the entire RUU process please?

For those of you who don't want to do the RUU process:
The Evo 3D Stock recovery, found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554777
works fine on the Evo V 4G.

I was on stock everything (hboot 1.57, stock kernal, stock rom) EXCEPT recovery (had TWRP 2.3.1), with the Superuser patch. I used joeykrim's Flash Image GUI app to flash this stock recovery (tried to flash with android terminal, couldn't make it work, decided $0.99 is worth making this easy).

I then went to "system updates" and the update installed fine using this recovery.

Everything up until this point was done on my phone without connecting to the computer. However, superuser no longer works (as was mentioned above), and I can't use this recovery to reflash the patch so ... guess I'll go back and re-root though adb.

Hope this helps!

edit: This was done entirely with S-ON

The patch didn't go over to well on mobster rom. The superuser patch made the root all glitchy and apps that need root permission wouldn't open. In the end never had trouble without the patch so I'm just continuing on without it.

I got it working. What you need to do is go to the Google play store and uninstall supersu which will just uninstall the updates. Then go into bootloader, flash the PMG file, reboot the phone after that, then restart into recovery. Flash the VM update zip and then flash the superuser patch file. Once you've rebooted go to the play store and update the superuser app. Should be good to go from there. I got rid of supersu cause I honestly prefer superuser anyways. But yes I can confirm it works on Mobster Rom V3.

What is safe to flash:
Firmware is perfectly fine on any rom.
Hboot could create problems on older GB roms, but fine on anything recent.

System update is NOT safe, even on Harmonia.
This updates systemUI.and that alone will create issues on almost any rom we have.

I'm working on updating Harmonia to incorporate most of the system updates right now.

So... uhh... something or someone (ME) goofed up ....
anyways I ended up with my phone "Relocked" and ran RUU.
So now i'm stock and installed the update on my phone.

What would I need to do if I wanted to unlock my phone again to flash mobster & keep the update?
I was already rooted (S-ON) before with mobster.

Hey Leslie do you think the radio update that was posted is okay and won't Bork anything? I already installed via bootloader and flashed that one zip that had the lib files I think it was on Mobsters Rom and I have noticed an increase in stability for the 3g bars.

You have to re-root, s-off, then you can install the rom you want. AGAIN.

The radio is fine, I have it on mine now.

The system update is not. Lib files are safe, the systemUI is not and will bork something, the question is if you will notice it or not. It's nothing a reflash of the rom won't fix though.

I'm having some problems following this thread. I'm on mobsters ROM what exactly do I flash? I know there's like 3 files but what do u use to flash each one and in what order. Like what is installed using the boot loader and what is installed using ext 4? Thanks! Or maybe I should wait to see how this can get integrated into the next mobster build. I

I've only installed the radios and the zip file that had the lib files. It did something funky to my supersu so I uninstalled it and flashed superuser signed file that was posted on this thread(I prefer it anyways). Booted up and went to the play store and updated superuser. Now everything is fine. But I've noticed now that my signal has hit -120 once while at work and it has never done that before here to my knowledge. But other than that I do notice the bars seem to be full now and my signal ranges from -66 to -72 which is good as hell lol

HTC EVO V (oem and rooted experiment) : after ota updating and loosing root a few times, changing hboots, recoveries, RUUing, htc unlocking three times, ADB ramming and jamming, I got everything loaded, and it all seems to be working fine (rooted). so far, no negative radio issues.

!As a new user you cannot yet post links or images! oh well

There were so many late hours of problems and failures, i didn't document the procedures.

Got it going from a stock rom, rooted with S-ON (all I need is tether every 2-3 weeks, and I like Sense).

Basically install the two files listed earlier in the thread as zips from recovery:

http://db.tt/nfAkDtL0 = Firmware

http://db.tt/YoK6kFTo = System files

Than had to reflash recovery with fastboot (using twr).

Next install the superuser file from this thread:

http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip

And then reboot and reset whatever SU permissions you may need.

That was it. It came up with a customization warning on first boot, but then loaded up fine and has not come back.

Confirmed with the posts above that the numbers match for the update.

Thanks for all the info guys.
