Root Update

OK...I think I already know the answer to this but I would like to make sure.
Is this strictly for ICS because I am currently running the Paranoid Android ROM which is JB/CM10 based.
If I flash the firmware only and not the system files will that work?

Hey Leslie do you think the radio update that was posted is okay and won't Bork anything? I already installed via bootloader and flashed that one zip that had the lib files I think it was on Mobsters Rom and I have noticed an increase in stability for the 3g bars.

Thanks for the tip for getting it working on mobster, radio won't screw up anything it's been out and tested for a couple months

If you just want the radio it's alright

4ext was bugging out after I installed it, 4ext kept locking up.

I installed the update over an old backup of the stock rom that i had and it worked flawlessly. Until i noticed that none of my root apps worked anymore. Even though, with busy box installer, it said my device was rooted. But every time i tried to update busy box or use root checker and even 4ext, superuser would deny root access. So i just said the hell with it, rebooted into recovery and restored my backup of mobster rom. Oh btw, I'm s-off with h-boot 1.04 and i didn't run the RUU or relock.

Can u provide a link to that? I used to have it but i don't think i do anymore. Also, did u install the update like i did, by restoring and old backup and flashing over that?

EDIT: i actually found 2 different files:

Super user 3.0.7-efghi- signed-zip

SuperSU V0.93-efghi- signed-zip

Which one did u use?

TWRP 1.1.1 can be found in the first sticky thread and SU patch is in post # 20 of this thread. All i flashed was the OTA system patch, not the PG86IMG since im s-on. what i did was wipe cache and dalvik cache, flash zip and flash SU.

Has anyone out there not received the update like myself? I am currently rooted with the stock rom ,su patch and s- on. I noticed some zip files were posted for the update. I'm trying to read through and make sense of a way to use the files and update without having to revert back to stock which I'm kind of unsure of how to do As well. Would somehow be so kind and enlighten me on the simplest way of going about doing this? Also will the update work if I'm rooted with the stock and s- on. Thanks everyone!

i feel like we are on the same boat. read my thread http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/648996-fastboot-commands-flashing-fix.html maybe this can give you an idea.

It really doesn't matter, it depends on whether you prefer using the original superuser or super su.

Just a lil update. I booted into bootloader just to see my info at the top and u know where it usually has the little asterisks with either unlocked, locked or relocked...well....now mine has nothing. It does however still say that I'm s-off and on h-boot 1.04. How do i remedy this situation w/o running the RUU?

I don't know how this came about but there is nothing to remedy, whatever it says or doesn't say about the status of your bootloader is irrelevant, being s-off takes precedent.

I got it working. What you need to do is go to the Google play store and uninstall supersu which will just uninstall the updates. Then go into bootloader, flash the PMG file, reboot the phone after that, then restart into recovery. Flash the VM update zip and then flash the superuser patch file. Once you've rebooted go to the play store and update the superuser app. Should be good to go from there. I got rid of supersu cause I honestly prefer superuser anyways. But yes I can confirm it works on Mobster Rom V3.

I don't have the updates installed but I'll try it later and see what comes of it.

Make sure the PMG file is in the root of your sdcard.

I'm only referring to the patch, I have the radio and pri

Again didn't work, anyone have a link for super su update.zip

Ok suddenly superuser has started working, I have no preference for superuser or super su so I'll take it

The Over The Air Programming Fix has worked fine for me so far, in a day of running Mobster/Senseless Rom, I have only had the msm and loss of signal once (which was in a cafe where I usually have not much signal; -78 dBm 2asu steady), which got fixed by itself within 3-4mins.
Other than that, I have had a great signal and a more solid phone throughout the day.

Note: Before with this Rom, I had a very recurrent signal losses, not being able to make any phone calls sometimes. I can say that the fix is working favorable so far. :)

Please report what you are experiencing with your phone after installing the patch successfully.:D

Does wiping cache/dalvik remove the patch? Or just flashing new roms?
Flashing a new rom eliminates the system patches, which were minor and really pretty much insignificant.

The rest stays unless you flash a new radio or PRI.

We already know full and well what the patch does and is.
It's the same thing we have been doing in the "fix everything" thread for months now.
It replaces the radio and PRI, which boosts signal quality and stability, eliminating the call and sms errors.

Great! Thanks for your input.

On a side note: I believe is convenient to give some input to readers who haven't done the update yet, and also point out the Custom Rom we are using, so we're all sure about its compatibility with the specific Rom.
Which technically regardless of the Rom, it will always improve signal and stability as you pointed, but since some programs are more compatible than others. Again I'm a newbie in regards to all this, and I'm not sure if that stands true. Please disregard my "request" if you feel is unnecessary. :)

I did the RUU method and accepted the OTA update then rerooted, put on 4ext and restored a backup of Harmonia 3.16. Everything seems to be working and it seems the signal is better. Is there a way to tell if the radio/firmware went though? I didn't write down my version numbers before attempting this...

Go into the bootloader and check what radio version you have. I beleive the new one is 1.09.00.0706

pretty much know this patch is useless to me..just like to be on par with everything
The only way that can be true is if you never got the sms/call error or fluctuating signals.

I can pretty much guarantee you have at least least one of those symptoms.
