Root Update

Go into the bootloader and check what radio version you have. I beleive the new one is 1.09.00.0706

The only way that can be true is if you never got the sms/call error or fluctuating signals.

I can pretty much guarantee you have at least least one of those symptoms.

Tbh I never got the sms error from the evo v launch date to the night of the "update". That night was odd, I got the error on almost every text then by the morning it had magically disappeared.

I zipped the pg86.IMG file on hboot jupunto 1.57 (misspelled I know), and midnight Rom. The only difference noted visually is the baseband going from 1.06..... To 1.09.... I just did it a min ago, so can't say much more.

Hi Leslie, I am very confused right now. :$

I went to check the radio into bootloader.
It shows RADI0: 1.06.00.0426.

I previously flashed the following via Recovery:

-Patched the OTA
-Patched file PG86IMG.zip
-Patch SU.zip

I verified System/Customize/AAInfo.txt with file Explorer and it shows the following:
TaskID : 289583Project : Shooter_ICS_35_SSKU : Sprint WWE VM[652]ROM Ver : 1.14.652.0Customization Id : 363616RCMS Id : 153

I am confused; I understand that the PG86IMG.zip file has to be flashed via bootloader, but once I go into bootloader I don't see any option to select the file from there, so I used recovery instead....

Could you please be kind and explain to me the correct procedures, please?

I'm not so sure this works if you are S-On. I did it and got the same results as Kil, so I went S-Off and now it's showing they way everyone else has reported.

Place PG86IMG.zip in the root of your sd card. Boot into bootloader and give it a second. It will auto-see it and ask if you want to flash.
Don't change file name, don't decompress, and can only be in root folder of sd card.

Great, thank you for response.

What do you exactly mean by Root Folder? (Drag and drop it on the SD Card).

I have created a folder and placed it inside of it

Root means placing it directly onto the sd card. No folders. Just the file to the sd card.

Copy that.
I'm in the process of trying it now....
I truly appreciate your fast response.

Edit: I just updated the Radio to 1.09.00.0706.
There is not need to reapply the OTA, correct?

Again, I appreciate your fast responses, youaregreat and jmoore.
Thank you!

Alternative recoveries are typically unable to flash OTA's (and could brick the phone).
This is why rooted/s-on users cannot use it.

I am working on a way for it to be flashed by root users who are s-on though, but I have a bit going on and may take me another day or two, and there is no guarantee it will work.

My phone seems to run a bit slower after doing this anyone else notice a slight delay opening apps ?
Thanks

I may be wrong, but I don't think the firmware should have any effect on the speed of your phone, only the speed of your downloads and your signal strength.

i am on mobster rom with s-off,rooted, hboot-1.04.2000, with 4ext recovery. can anyone please tell me how to get this update installed the easiest way. thanks!!

i think its pretty easy for u to get the update. Since u r s-off u can just to back to post #2 and download the PG86IMG there. Its named correctly for u already. after download u put it on the root of ur sd card and boot into bootloader and wait to be prompted and press Up to confirm update (phone not connected to your computer while doing this) . as far as system files u go back to post #10 and download the zip there and flash it in ur recovery. i wiped cache and dalvik cache before flashing the zip in recovery. This is an general direction I'm still quite noob so read up a bit more before attempting.

I would do as optimusv45 posted except not to bother flashing the framework files in recovery, they have the potential to conflict with your current rom unless you were on stock. Both Harmonia and Midnight latest version have them included already.

Hello new to evo forums came over from triumph. I have an evo on the way and was wondering if I update before rooting and changing roms do I have to do the update over again if I change roms or do s-off or am I good to go? Thanks I don't post much but am a heavy lurker.

if u accept update before rooting or flashing roms u shouldn't need to worry about doing the update again. i think the reason is rooting and flashing roms dont change radios, important part of the update. do make sure to read what others will say on this.

You'll be fine no matter what you flash whether you're s-on or off, the only way to change the update which is basically a different radio would be to intentionally flash a new radio, you'll have to be s-offed to do it. Changing roms or getting root and s-off won't affect it. Good luck with the new phone.

I can confirm that this radio firmware update (I flashed it under a custom ROM and S off with no issue) has fixed all my connection issues. No more pulling the battery every day to send or receive test messages and no more dropped or unable to connect calls. I highly recommend this for all HTC EVO V owners.

Got it going from a stock rom, rooted with S-ON (all I need is tether every 2-3 weeks, and I like Sense).

Basically install the two files listed earlier in the thread as zips from recovery:

http://db.tt/nfAkDtL0 = Firmware

http://db.tt/YoK6kFTo = System files

Than had to reflash recovery with fastboot (using twr).

Next install the superuser file from this thread:

http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip

And then reboot and reset whatever SU permissions you may need.

That was it. It came up with a customization warning on first boot, but then loaded up fine and has not come back.

Confirmed with the posts above that the numbers match for the update.

Thanks for all the info guys.

The Recovery you used was TWRP v 1.1.1?

I have the PG86IMG in the root folder of my microSD card, and going into bootloader it parses it but doesn't produce the "update" entry. Is there any other way to flash this image and have it stick?
