Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

When I charged my battery, left and came back, the battery was full (100%) but after I went on the phone, the battery dropped to 95%, then to 90% and now 85%. I just charged it again and it says 90% again but can someone tell me why the battery level is dropping by a lot? I think it was because I overclocked my phone at 825mhz. Can someone also tell me a stable amount of mhz to set the phone to? <- (not sure if that made any sense)

Hi, I remember that I was really surprised how it looked like nothing was happening for a long time. The phone just went blank for about 40 minutes, then it seemed to work. I think it was actually communicating with something during the time, but am not sure.

How long did you give it before rebooting, etc?

I read somewhere it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes but I saw where it took 15 minutes for some so I was letting it do nothing for 15 minutes normaly. What worries me is that it goes back to the home screen. Then if I try to run it again it goes to a white screen and does nothing for 15 minutes before I give up and reboot.

Is going back to the home screen normal behavior? Or should it stay on the blue screen till finished?

Should I not have used Astro File Manager? I didn't see another way to access the SD card to install the z4root program.

Great, now I can't do back to 2.1

I did what it says in 1st post (restoring 2.1), but after going to download mode KDZ says phone not found ...

Did you flash the fastboot 2.1 ROM to your phone before updating it to 2.3?
Yes.

Now I did it , but not by doing "fastboot -w", "fastboot reboot"
I did it by flashing it without doing "fastboot -w" and "fastboot reboot"
After that phone was rebooting but I solve that with "fastboot -w".
I guess hard reset with "volumeUp+home+search" would do the same thing as "fastboot -w".

Anyway, screen calibration stil not working.

I'v got some questions about going from CM6 to CM7. When I was installing CM6, i had no LG or Boot logo so I couldn't make a Clockwork Recovery Backup. Correct me where I go wrong:

First I should downgrade my phone back do 2.1 by using the guide at the bottom of the first post? Think it goes fastboot.exe -w, then reboot.

After that follow the LG Logo fix using the French 2.1 ROM? When That's done I should add a ROM with Fastboot and follow the CM7 guide from the begining?

Thank you, while answering keep in mind that I Didn't have LG Logo first time when I was installing the Cyanogenmod 6.

In CM6 I couldn't use the physical button while in camera to capture images. Is that fixed in CM7?

Also if there are some bugs in CM7 that were not CM6, please tell me.

Thanks again

Problems so far:

Camera not working. (Freezes when taking pictures)

Can't make the screen stay on portrait mode.

Battery decreases to 95% after fully charged then 90% after about 5 min. then 85% after another 5 min.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THESE PROBLEMS?

Yes, just follow the instructions exactly in the post and you'll be able to restore the boot logos. When that's done just continue on and follow the instructions in the CM7 post. :)

Yes the camera button is fixed in CM7

All the bugs are in the first post of the CM7 thread.

The camera does this for me too sometimes, just restart the phone a coupla times and it should sort itself out.

Settings>Display>Auto rotate screen (uncheck it)

Try this:

  1. Reboot into recovery
  2. Go to advanced
  3. Clear battery stats
  4. Yes
  5. Reboot
See if that solves the battery problem

Gonna try it. Thanks for the reply :)

How do you make the screen rotate at only one side? (where the back and end button are at the top and the menu and call button are at the bottom)

Finally got my phone rooted. Use a batch file found for the 540 on MoDaCo's site that half worked then updated to the latest su from the market and the latest busybox. Titanium Backup works and I did a full backup so now I'm ready to start over again!!!

Isn't this fun?!?
