Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

The Market fix is in the first post about the Google Apps and why would you want to install the Gingerbread theme when you have Gingerbread on the phone...?

I'd like to install the Gingerbread them cause after I installed the CyanogenMod 7 (2.3.2 mentioned in the phone setting already), I still have the previous theme (CyanogenMod 6 version). I also expect I would have new theme after I installed the CyanogenMod 7, but I don't.

And could you please give me a suggestion how to copy "Fix for Google Apps file" to the phone SD card cos my computer phone sync program doesn't recognise my phone? (My computer bluetooth is not working properly and I don't have SD card adaptor)

Thanks a million for the help;)

CyanogenMod 6 should of been erased when you installed CM7.. In fastboot did you type
Code:
fastboot.exe -w
and
Code:
fastboot.exe erase system
?

To copy the fix, just plug the phone into the computer and click 'Enable Mass storage' on the phone, if that doesn't appear, drag down the notifications bar, and click on the 'USB Connected' notification, then click 'Enable Mass storage'. The phone's SD Card should now appear as a removable device in 'My Computer' copy the file there and install via recovery :D

Have you set up your APN settings? What network are you on in which country?

I doubt re flashing would do much, I think it's just the SD Card.. I can't say which one I'm using because it's an unbranded 4GB card that came with my old Nokia 5530.. But you could always try..

I reflashed it and still doesnt work... are you sure you gave me the right command? cuz even if i only type "adb" in cmd, i get the same output as when i type the whole command "adb mount-t vfat-o........"

so it must not be recognizing the whole command line... it only recognizes "adb"

EDIT: by the way, the output gives me a lot of stuff such as all the commands and explanations within the adb, and it doesnt seem to be doing anything to my phone.

Hmm, try going into recovery, then going to mount>sdcard and see if it shows up in your computer, if it does, then backup all your data, if not see if you can put the SDcard in another phone/memory card reader to back up the data on your memory card as you are going to format it.

If you've backed up your data or you can't and it doesn't matter (your okay that you'll lose the data on the card) then try to format the card on the phone by going to Settings>Storage>Erase SD Card if you can't but the SD card shows up when you mount it through recovery then in My Computer, right click the SD Card and click format. Change the file system to FAT32 and don't do a quick format, this will now take a while.

If that still doesn't work I found this on the internet, it worked on a Samsung Galaxy S, but it could still work on this phone.. try it:

1. Boot into Recovery
2. Go back to CMD and type
Code:
cd C:\Android
3. Then connect your phone and type into cmd:
Code:
adb shell
3. Then type:
Code:
umount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
4. Then type:
Code:
umount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
5. Then type:
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcblk0p1

If it doesn't work, try again with the phone on and in debugging mode

none of those worked..... when i typed adb shell in cmd, i kept getting error: device not found... even when the phone was on and not in recovery

was it in debugging mode?

UPDATE: A new update of the ROM has been released, and has supposedly fixed the problems people have with the SD card, I'll upload it in about 10 mins, let you know when it's done :D

Is it worth updating?

Depends if you need the features, apparently the performance is meant to be better than v1.3 but you can really easily keep all your data by restoring the data backup you make in recovery, so you're always up to date :D

Haha, good choice :p

It's not, so what I recommend is that before you update, make a backup of your current version; once you've installed the update, as soon as you've restarted the phone in fastboot, before the first reboot, go straight into recovery and install Google Apps, then in recovery go to backup and restore>advanced restore>the backup you made before the update>restore data>yes you will then have all your apps and data (contacts, messages etc.) restored onto the phone, so just the system was updated :D
