While in Download Mode try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable. Windows will need to load a new driver for this mode to work with Odin. This is assuming you have already installed the Samsung ADB drivers.

If you have 64bit Windows you will have to reboot the computer and hold F8 and select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" when prompted to install and then every time after to use Odin's connection to the phone.
 
THANK YOU!!!!! everyone involved. I've canceled my T-mo, so I was not going to get it from them. Installed it right over the 1.6 no T-wiz. Seems to all be there. Great work, thanks! :)
 
Is it only me or doesnt the Android market on this ODIN update seem to take forever to load searches and other pages within it?

It looks like you are using the Update package. This one poses practically no risk of damaging your phone if it fails to flash. If it continues to sit there just restart Odin and try again.

I tried doing this as well. I can't get it to load all the way in Odin. Can someone help, my phone is unusable at this point.

Windows 64 bit (Vista and after) - FYI

A new "security feature" in Windows prevents installing and loading of drivers that have not been signed by Microsoft. If you have a 64bit operating system, Vista or newer, you will have to follow special procedures to install and use the included drivers. If signed drivers exist they will be added to the download when they are found.

Before you installed the drivers and whenever you want to use the ADB / Odin functionality later you must do the following:


  1. Reboot your computer, once it begins starting immediately hold F8.
  2. After a few seconds you will get the Windows Startup Menu.
  3. Select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement".
  4. Install or use your driver/device in Windows.
CAUTION:
Some users are reporting that after the update the phone will temporarily be stuck in a boot loop. This seems to happen when the user has previously installed certain custom ROMs such as Take5 and Galaxy R12.

The work-around requires a complete factory wipe of the phone, meaning you will lose all of your data and apps not on the SD card. If you want to proceed in this case do the following:

When the phone appears to be stuck in the boot loop..

  1. Pull the battery and reinsert it.
  2. Hold down Volume Down + Call + End.
  3. When the [!] logo appears press 'menu'. This will perform the factory reset.

Special thanks goes to SoulCreator for giving me a working ROM dump after I botched mine in test #1 - don't worry it works now :o

Use these firmware images to update your phone to the latest official firmware (UVJA3) if you haven't received it automatically yet. If you've been using a custom ROM, you can return to the updated stock build with these as well.

The downloads contain the Odin software, Samsung ADB drivers, and images (update or full flash depending). This is everything you need to perform the firmware flash - no root or other special tools/knowledge is necessary.

CAUTION: Interrupting the flashing process may render you phone permanently unusable. Keep this in mind while you set everything up.

Update: Do this if you want to keep your apps, settings, and data. You will only loose root and custom ROM features.

  1. Turn off and disconnect your Behold 2 from your computer.

Full Flash: Do this if you want to revert to the (updated) stock firmware after using a custom ROM. You will loose all applications, settings, and data on the phone.

The next release may include a fix to stop this from happening.
 
i tried the factory reset and its just staying on the samsung behold black screen wit recovery mode...... at the top left hand corner :(
 
Hey Nu11u5, do you think it would be possible to get a pptp vpn to work on this? I mean, I would of assumed a final 1.6 would have the vpn functionality working, but apparently it isn't :(.

Do you mean when you boot into Recovery Mode this is all you see? Or is it doing this when you just try to boot normally (without holding any buttons at startup)?

In Recovery Mode it will just show "recovery mode", and for a few moments the [!] image.

If you set up a VPN does it not work? If that's not the case then there is nothing that can be done. The 1.6 kernel would need to be recompiled which is something we don't have the ability to do for this phone.

Settings > Phone Settings > VPN Settings
 
Thanks. Got 1.6 installed finally but now i'm having a couple problems. My phone memory is way down for some reason. And worse I keep getting force closes. The message "the process android. process. media. has stopped unexpectedly" comes up repeatedly on start up and when I try to download anything from the market it stops and interrupts it with that force close. Please help.

Check this thread for the fix for the out of memory error. It involves flashing back to 1.5 stock and then doing the update.

I have no idea off the top of my head why this would be happening. If we had root already I would ask for some info on the device.
 
Ok I'll try that. I got my memory up to about 30 mb after clearing the caches on my browser and skyfire and deleting a couple apps but I'm still getting the message any time I get a text or try to download something. Also the text isn't showing up on my notification bar I just feel the vibration and then get the fc but the new text is in my messages. I'll have to reflash and see if it works.
 
I flashed this update from BH Man's Take 5. I just did the one package flash, not the full flash. Then after I flashed, I just did a factory reset out of habit and it shows I have 81.01 MB of internal storage, and I just installed a couple of apps like ADWlauncher, Appsinstaller, and uninstaller. So maybe if you do a factory reset, that will clear your memory issues.

The only thing I hate is the market now has a T-Mobile picks tab on the far right instead of the Downloads tab.
 
Just did the reset and it worked like a charm. No more fcs and memory up to 90mbs. Thanks everyone for all the help. I really appreciate it.
