Updated RC1 9/18

Alright, now I'm getting confused:p. If the CM forum is saying that they never heard of CM6.1 and norm12 says it's CM6.1(I've seen his posts at xda), what the heck is it. I guess one thing is for sure, I just flashed the 920 and everything is running beautifully;)

Personally, flash the 920 and not worry about the 'stable' release 9/18
thanks, flashing 920 now

over on xda, they said this CM6.1 is stable & is the final build of rc1 6.0.0, & is faster & more stable than the nightlies, & is the real deal

There have to be some differences between the 9/18 and this stable version. I was running 9/18 and my Maps would not locate me exactly on occasion and my Gallery would not load properly. I put the stable release in early yesterday morning and both of those issues are completely gone - Maps locates me very accurately and Gallery is perfect.

I guess the moral of this story is, any forum you go to, you may find a different answer for a different question

CM6.1 is faster and more stable, but I would not compare them to the nightlies, that's apple and oranges. Compare the RC1 to the CM6.1, there's the comparison

Finally took the leap; I had been running DC-2.08 for several months. Spent some time yesterday and flashed the updated RC1 and the new Google Apps. Outstanding! Everything works, GPS, messaging (SMS and MMS), etc. Only minor problem I have seen is rotating photos get way distorted. Thanks to Andygu3 for the info.

Quick question: I had been running Wireless Tether version 1.6. I'm pretty sure I read on some forum that one of the 2.x versions works on this ROM, but my searches have not found an answer. Anyone have experience with Wireless Tether v2.x on this ROM? If so, which version? Thanks.

Update: tried v2.02, works, WEP works also

well its official, the stable released cm6.1 (update-cm-6.0.0-Heroc-signed.zip), has been posted in the HTC CDMA HERO - Stable Mods - Downloads on CyanogenMod Forums, not under experimental or nightlys, but STABLE

Is it still an ASOP Rom or does it have all of the Sense overlays like in the people app and the dialer for example.

its ASOP, but there are apps & such to make it look sence, look on youtube.

google fancy widgets (sence clock/weather), or use beautiful widgets, & look for contact apps, i use "contacts widget", just got to search

Just to clarify the confusion...I read Darch's changelog

CHANGELOG.mkdn at froyo from CyanogenMod's android_vendor_cyanogen - GitHub

and saw the 6.1 designation that is apparently causing people some issues. I found it on the CM page under the tab for the CDMA HTC HERO Stable Mod. I came across this page simply by clicking on the link for the changelog as I wanted to know what was going to be the difference in flashing the stable mod. I wasn't trying to call anyone out or make anyone think I know what I'm talking about, just trying to clear up the confusion. Now looking at it I am wondering if that changelog is for all of CM6 and not just our device because I don't have all of the features listed.

Anyways, I don't post here or at xda a ton and honestly, don't know that much more than the rest of you---the only reason for the xda account is to download stuff from them and to be able to interact with the developers when I have a problem with something that they've made. enjoy your evening all

All of the features listed in the changelog except the bottom 3, are in the newest stable CM6.1

How do you update the rom? Do I have to do anything different then when I first installed the rom and will I lose all my settings and apps? Thanks

Does anybody have any problems with the Gallery? I can view a picture but when I rotate the phone and picture gets messed up

If you are going to flash from another rom or are flashing for the first time you MUST wipe everything, data, cache and Davlik cache.

If you are going to flash the CM6.1 from the RC1 or a nightly, you will ONLY need to wipe cache and Davlik cache. No need to wipe data;) All settings will be as you left them prior to flashing

I am not having any issues with the gallery. In menu, settings, cyanogenmod settings, user interface, Accelerometer rotation, I have checked 270 degrees. Would this have anything to do with it?

BTW, I am on the 921 nightly

I have that checked as well. This was also occurring on RC1 so I guess I will wipe and flash.

Tell me exactly what you did!

Here's what I did, opened up gallery, picked a picture, then rotated the phone either left or right, nothing changed with the picture

That is exactly what I did. But the picture gets pixelated. Then it cuts the pic in half. I was going to take a screen shot but the phone froze. I had to battery pull.

Edit: Here is the pic:
