Root Updates with Root Plz Help

I recently rooted my Evo, will it still automatically update and do all normal things as before it was rooted? Please let me know asap!! :D

No never accept an OTA update, it will unroot your phone and coud mess things up, if you want to get a step by step guide on how to update while rooted go to the Rooting for Dummies guide look in the after root section and then in the updates section. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Simple Answer is No.
Once Rooted, it is set to S-OFF, which means the automatic push for the OTA will skip you because your device has no Security. So it is almost guaranteed you will not ever see an OTA while Rooted.

If you ever want to Un-Root, or want to get the Latest OTA.. Like An Urge To Dance stated, follow the steps in the Guide for After Rooting.

Like previously mentioned by Matlock and Urgetodance, no, you cannot accept an OTA while rooted. The fact that you have a custom recovery will not allow an update. If you want all the benefits of an update w/o having to risk losing root, flash a ROM that already has the update included. Not only will you not lose root but chances are you'll have the latest updates a day or two before the official update is released.

Yep Like Frenchy said a lot of the time you can get the OTA before people who aren't rooted, right now we can put Gingerbread on our phones if we wanted to ;)

ok i did not explain it right, i unrooted my phone not rooted... sorry. so S-on, default, stock phone, no superuser permissions

Then yes it should be safe to do OTAs as long as you have s-off no rooted ROM and no custom recovery then it is like you never rooted in the first place.

Lol, sorry this thread made me laugh. Once you've Unrooted and have S-ON again, you can do whatever you could before rooting, including accepting OTA updates. There :). I will say though, if your intention is to unroot, accept the OTA update, then root again, I suggest you take An UrgeTo Dance's advice, and manually update while rooted. If you just don't want root anymore, then you have nothing to worry about.
