Root Upgrading and Downgrading radios

Hello all.

Is downgrading your radios the same process as flashing an update? Is downgrading even a good idea? Are there anythings that I need to watch out for?

I'm currently on 2.15 and want to try 2.30 to see if I can get better signal and how they will affect battery life. Currently I'm not having any issues with what I have. And its not a process I want to jack-up.

Is it even worth messing with? I'm using mikg 2.41 right now.

I have the same exact combo as you, Rom and all. I haven't had any issues.
As far as signal it depends entirely on where you live, and the towers in your proximity.
You can try the newer radio, Wimax, nv, and pri Connie, it can't hurt. And you can downgrade if it doesn't work out.
Only thing I would advise is make sure, absolutely sure you have a working nandroid with your Wimax keys saved. Flashing radios has been known in the past to accidentally make the Wimax keys distappear. It's never happened to me. Take the easy precaution, trust me. :D

i have updated my radios and i have not seen any big difference in signal strength nor battery life. like granite said make a nandroid first with wimax keys. you can read this:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...before-you-flash-your-radios-read-thread.html for concerns on flashing radios. just keep in mind that it is not normal to loose your keys when flashing radios. it is just a warning that you could loose wimax by doing so. and whatever you do if you do flash the radios, be patient and do not pull the battery out while in the middle of flashing them. it could really brick your phone if you do.

Also make sure you have at least 50% battery and my suggestion is that once you start it, walk away and get a snack or something like that. It will take a bit and if you watch it it seems like an eternity the first time you do it.:D

I've read that messing with your radios is one of the few ways you can turn your phone into a paper weight. It's not something I'm eager to jump into and starting messing around with, but I'm always looking to improve things.

Thanks for the tips and advice everyone! Much appreciated.
