Help Upgrading Galaxy Note (international version) to ICS

panlee

Lurker
I can't seem to upgrade to ICS.
I bought the SmarTone Galaxy Note in Hong Kong, so it's naturally unlocked.
I'm in Canada now using a Rogers sim card and on the Rogers network.
Every time I go to Check updates it says no updates.
Can anyone help?

I've got the polish Note and recently i got the update over the air. So far it has been terrible. Battery consumption is worse. reception is worse and i have to reboot it every couple of days. I complained to Samsung Australia [ where i live ] and they say they didn't release the update to my phone. I have no idea who sent me the update, so i cannot get it fixed. I was way happier with my phone being on gingerbread than this broken down ics that i recieved. ICS has got some good points but if you get the update i got, you will end up throwing your phone at the wall. I don't think you will ge much useful information off this site, there doesn't seem to be anyone in the know here. Its a shame this site isn't hooked up to some proffesionals that actually know what they are talking about. Have been using this site for ages and have rarely got any usefull answers to my questions. This site is good for asking inane questions like where is the battery on my phone and stuff like that. I suggest you do some looking on the net. You will at least find out some useful information about your phone. Good luck.

I am on Rogers also, but my phone is an international Note from France, and I just got the ICS update available to me last week.

It would be like, hmmmm, maybe if you lived in Australia and got a phone that is from elsewhere in the world. See, there is no such thing as an Australian Note, which, anyone using this forum would know. All notes in Australia are imported from elsewhere.

Like, Poland.

Just like if you live in Canada and have an international Note. It's not from Canada so you won't get the update when Rogers sends it out.

If you've been on this forum for more than 1 month you'll know that not all phones from all countries have received the update yet. Since you have only 1 post, then no worries, I hope this helps you.

It doesn't matter where YOU are, it matters where YOUR PHONE is from.

So, Panlee, just hang tight. I only got my update last week (haven't downloaded it yet). So I bet you will get your soon.

Don't listen to Pepee63, there is a lot of useful information on this site, and if you don't think you are better than the rest of us, you will get helped eventually by many of the helpful people here.

Hang tight!

You usually have to pay for "professional" tech support, though. AF is free-to-access, and doesn't claim to be anything other than one of, if not the, largest user-supported sites available. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have the membership it does if nobody found it useful.

You're entitled to your opinion, but please don't post here telling others to go elsewhere. That's just plain disrespectful, both to the owner who pays out big bucks each month to give everyone free access, and to the thousands of members who give of their own time to help others.

I live in Canada with an International Note from Hong Kong and wanted tthe ics update as well. I'm with fido btw, and i downloaded Sumsung Kies off the Samsung website, plugged in my phone, and the update was available! I love the update. It's much much smoother in my opinion and my battery life is running just as it was before ICS. Ofcourse this is only my first day so i'll have to see how it pans out during the weeks :p

I downloaded the Kies software, and installed on my standalone computer a few days ago... I'm assuming that you have to remain connected online in order to get the ICS update, or is it in the software already?? Reason I'm asking is because internet connection here is spotty at best.
