Upgrading to 2.1 Tutorial

1. DO A FACTORY RESET FOR THE PHONE. Then Call *82282 (let it do it's thing it goes through all options all in one shot.

2. DELETE EVERYTHING OFF YOUR SD CARD

3. PUT THE FILE ON THE SD CARD (do not un-zip it; just download it and place it on the SD card by itself and no other folder should be on there)

4. TURN OFF THE PHONE

5. NOW THAT THE PHONE IS OFF. HOLD DOWN THE VOLUME DOWN BUTTON (KEEP IT HELD DOWN) AND NOW WHILE HOLDING THE DOWN VOLUME KEY HOLD THE POWER BUTTON (BOTTOM LEFT AND KEEP IT HELD DOWN). ONCE THE SCREEN LIGHTS UP RELEASE BOTH THE VOLUME DOWN KEY ON THE SIDE OF THE PHONE AND THE POWER BUTTON.

6. Let it do it's thing. watch the bar on the side start doing a bunch of things and loading. wait until something in red pops up and then you have to push the task ball in the middle right about HTC on the phone twice but just folllow the rest of his how to guide.

Let me know how that works. I am guessing you kept clicking down volume key and not holding it down? Good luck!

I Just can't seem to get it to work. Even though I have saved the file of SD, once I start the phone up by pressing volume down and the power/end call button it doesnt upload. It reads failure to upload image and the option to update isnt given.

If you view the card like a pyramid then each folder would be a different level of that pyramid, leading you to the top. The first view that you see when you open the SD card would be the first or lowest level.
Basically, don't put it in a folder.
 
A way to check if you have the most recent version is to look at the software/build number of your install. I have the latest version of the 2.1 beta (I think), and its software number is 2.26.605.4 ... in the earlier version of 2.1, it was 2.26.605.2.

Also, if you're looking at two different PB00IMG.ZIP files:

Old 2.1 leak = 108,854,573 bytes (or 106,304 KB or 103.81 MB)
New 2.1 leak = 108,819,939 bytes (or 106,270 KB or 103.78 MB)

edit: never mind, i'm not suppose to hit the send button as well, just vol down and end key. durr.

Is the process for upgrading from the old 2.1 leak to this current one similar to the instructions in the op? I'm running the old 2.1, have the new 2.26.605.4 leak yet when do the vol down, send, end key combo on boot up, it just gives me the option of clearing storage and nothing else. I also noticed that my "touch panel" line is different from the op as well. Any thoughts?

Does anyone have a link to the latest build of 2.1? I have downloaded 3 different files from 3 places and keep getting the old 2.1 leak.
The newest build solves the bug with Google maps right?

Thanks bro, but how the f do i update my in touch max!? lg update program doesnt even recognise my phone and im getting pissed lol :(
 
Newb in the house:)My file is the correct size, I place it at the btm on the sd card "ladder" and it's named correctly. When I do the volume down and end call to restart it 4 no image or wrong image files show up and then it starts loading the PB00IMG.zip file. I don't get any update options in red and i have to use the volume controls to nav.
