I treated this phone with so much care its sad. Never dropped it and never slammed it hard on anything and its giving me problems. The screen digitizer is going bad which is crap. I did some googling and it seems its a POPULAR problem with the evo 3d. Being our phone are just re-branded evo3d's im not surpised im having the same problem. My new part is coming today which means i have to take apart my lovely v 4g and might not even get it back together working 100% correctly after that.

Wish me luck and shes going into surgery today.

^^ too much work for a phone still new and treated wonderful.

Is your phone under a year old? If so, did you try contacting Virgin Mobile about a replacement? They may still have refurbished Evos available and are really good about replacing defective phones.

Ya, its under a year old, but i didnt buy insurance for it. Is that okay?
Brought it March 2013

Whats wrong with the cheap one?

Does the cheap one have the sprint/HTC brand logo on it still?

Thanks

You got the good one then, meant cheap as in like the off brand per say kind. Those only last a month or 2 before going out again. I found out the hard way :p

Yes, the warranty is separate from insurance. I've never insured a phone through VM and they've always sent out replacements.

Don't put your Evo under the knife just yet! Call ASAP and talk to someone in tech support!

Just call Virgin and save the $30, if you have buggered the cable another digitizer won't help you much.
OB

indeed, but the new LCD screen comes with new cables and everything. If i was just get another digitizer it would be the same issue. WIth the new LCD i just need to transfer over the motherboard pretty much.

and i doubt they will warrant a customer opened phone lol. I could put it back together 100% correct though, but people saying they aren't getting Evo 3d's for replacement phones.]

If the new LCD doesn't fix it guess ill upgrade to a Samsung.

Figured out what i need. I need the front assembly to get my phone back working. Which includes the LCD+Digitizer+Frame pre assembled and some are taken from mint phones but bad ESN's. If i do it this way i just have to plug in ribbons into swapped motherboard and screw it back together.. and once again a working EVO v 4g.

If anyone else has this problem in the future. .you need this:

Yea they got a new batch of evo's in and the s3 will be coming out any day now so just get one from VM

Glad you got it worked out. Having a busted phone absolutely sucks.

Fixed. Just installed my new LCD paid for 2 day shipping because I'm impatient. Working better than new now :)

I think trying to Pry the old LCD up from the thick glue or maybe heating up glue with blow dryer broke the screen.

Might be time to move on. Phone is rebooting by self for no reason and it was doing this before the new screen.

Might have to swap this piece of crap with a replacement which is going to have problems sooner or later or just get a samsung s2 or something.

What's your current status? I'd move on if it were me. Don't put anymore time, money, or energy into this phone.

As has been suggested by almost EVERYONE in this thread, let Virgin Mobile replace it for you. I don't know why you keep ignoring this sound advice. Also, don't volunteer any information to Virgin Mobile that they don't ask for. I am not advocating that you lie...I'm just telling you not to give them a full run down of all the things you've done to try and fix your own phone when you call them up.

Once they replace it...if you want to move on, at least you'll have a phone worth selling off for at least $100 (maybe more). One day, the supply of EVO Vs will run out. I think the price might go up then. It won't go up much, but think about this...there aren't many 3D camera phones so it's quite a niche item. The closest performing current phone they sell is $200 I believe, so anywhere from $100-150 is a good idea of market value. Once another flagship HTC phone hits Virgin Mobile, the EVO V will be sent to the back burner...so act fast.

im just using it till it breaks. GPS is broken now. My gf just got a samsung s2 and i like it better than this 3d. Has a bigger screen and the quality of the screen beats the evo 3d big time. The colors on the s2 are brighter and richer. My phone had a jellybean rom since day 1 so i haven't used the 3d feature of this phone.

And in all honestly this is my 2nd smart phone. My1st was a kyocera rise which was trash. So im not big on cellphones like most people are. I dont see myself spending money on another phone for awhile now. If something else goes haywire i will just get a replacement but for now im fine.

Thanks

I have a hard time understanding why people think the screen is better on the S2 than the EVO 3D? My buddy has a Sprint S2 and it's noticeably lower resolution than the EVO 3D. Yes, the screen is bigger on the S2, but that makes the resolution quality even worse. IMO.

Now if the S2 had the same resolution even with the bigger screen I would totally agree with you

I'm actually pretty impressed with the EVO 3D screen, processor, RAM on a phone that's over 2 years old.
