Help Urgent Help needed with 2.1 =(

Question now is ... what if a week from now I want to do a different ROM/Kernel. Like maybe I want to do tethering and adding something else? What if I want a new theme only?? What steps would I take to do this. Do I have to start fresh. Do I go into recovery and do something like uninstall current ROM? Is it simple as just putting a new .zip on my SD card? What if later I want to just uninstall root period (highly unlikely but if something goes wrong with phone and I need it back) how would I do this.???

Sorry if my questions are confusing.

If you are using the kitchen then yes, all you would have to do is chose the options you want to change, download the zip, drop it on the sdcard, and apply from recovery.

If you want to unroot the phone (or if you need to take it to sprint for anything) just flash the stock 2.1 back to it. Your welcome :cool:.
 
Thanks so much for all your input.. I ended up redoing one and I figured it out to just put the .zip on SD and go to recovery and install it. Nice! Very easy after all the problems with USB not working correctly! =)

ok so I am having the same issue all the way from the first post lol. I was finally able to get the driver's installed, the SWupgrade does show it connected to port 5 but when i cluck on start upgrade, at the bottome left of the screem it is stuck at [debug] Setupconnection
Never get's past that part.

Ok so I installed the sprint updater and it installed android 1.5 and yes I checked to see and its the only file that you download for the moment. How do I get 2.1 on my moment

which version of the updater did you use?

is what i used to flash the OFFICIAL 2.1. this is NOT root, however it will give you the SPRINT android 2.1 platform (will all the bloatware you come to love and expect) from there, you would use THAT updater (and binary folder within) to flash a custom kernel and get going with root. instructions for THAT are

That's the exact one I used but it only gave me android 1.5.
 
did you maybe already have 2.1 and not know it? to unlock your phone do you touch power (end key) and then menu or do you push power and then slide a button?

Its possible but my only question is if I did already have 2.1 on there why would it have downgraded me to 1.5???
