Root Usb brick , cannot get temp root

i took it to service and they said it isn't a physical problem

if no computers can see the device even in fastboot (in device manager) then its going to be hardware related. there is no way they can say its not a physical problem if youve connected it to multiple pc's in fastboot and device manager doesnt show a connected device (even with exclamation android 1.0)

eitherway if you cant get fastboot you are pretty screwed
you could try a pb99imig on the sdcard

if you go to software information while in android what versions does it say in there please

they didn't gave an explanation just said everything is fine.
i installed 4ext but it says it needs busy box app....that i can't install.

android version 2.2.2
baseband version 32.49.00.32u_5.11.05.27
kernel version 2.6.32.15-gfa401c
build number 2.29.405.14 cl34208
software number 2.29.405.14

yeah you need to be rooted for that,

what you could do is download the 2.3.3 upgrade zip from here
Shipped ROMs

unzip and find the ruu exe
run it to the point it asks you to connect your device
dont connect the device and do a search in the temp directory for rom.zip
cop and paste this to desktop and close the ruu program
rename rom.zip to PB99IMG.zip (case sensitive)
place this file on the root of your sdcard
boot to bootloader (voldown+power) follow the prompts to install
after install is complete remove the file from the sdcard
see if your device can be picked up by usb in fastboot (back+power)
if it cannot then its hardware related
as your mate if this has ever been in contact with water (also check the white stickers on the battery and the mobo (under the connectors for batt on the main unit) if this stickers have red marks its been in contact with water

Hmm, plugged my phone into the pc and it switched to "fastboot usb" immediately. The PC subsequently recognised it, first as Android 1.0 and then by nickname, with driver androidusb.sys. The machine had HTC Sync on it from when I first got the phone, but I am fairly sure nothing else. Don't have a completely clean machine I can test with to be sure.

I unlocked my phone using the unlock .exe from xda the other day. As it happens my Windows guest on Linux host was clean. I had to install HTC sync then add the hboot drivers for both states to be recognised

i did exactly as you said till the point i put the sd card back in the phone,
after the sd card scan it says that there are no image files on it...after the first attempt i even unpacked the files in the root of the sd card but still no use.

another thing..i don't know if it is relevant but in all boot menus i get a lag of about 10 15 seconds until i can give commands.

A lag in hboot menus is normal (though I'd have expected more like 7 seconds).

So you put the PB99IMG.zip on the root of your SD card and the hboot didn't find it? Must be on the root of the card, and must be named exactly "PB99IMG.zip" - it's case sensitive, and you should make sure Windows hasn't renamed it PB99IMG.zip.zip, as sometimes happens.

i did exactly as in the instructions i even wiped out sd card and put only the PB99IMG.zip file on

Hmm, don't like the sound of that. As you can see from the guide, a usb brick doesn't generally stop hboot from seeing the card. So that's two anomalies here.

hmmm, should be able to see it in hboot. can you make sure in windows7 you go to folder options > view > uncheck hide extensions for known file types

make sure the pb99img.zip is not pb99img.zip.zip

i'm done with this phone it shall stay in the back of the drawer for ever i'm to tired and pissed off by this htc.....almost two weeks i tried to fix it but if it doesn't want what else can i do.

thanks guys for all the help and interest.

I've got similar problems. How i came to it:

Had Desire S-Off (with revolutionary) with Clockwork Recovery and Custem ICS Rom.

Now wanted to install BCM (CM9 based ICS ROM for Desire)
So i read in the tut: use hboot with at least 108MB vor System, best would be alpha data++. And dont use CW Recovery, use EXT4.

So i flashed new hboot and recovery (with Android flasher)
hboot works, S-OFF for sure.

When changing to recovery (4ext touch) it says "error mounting SD-Card" and boots into save-mode. (where you can do nothing)

"adb devices" doesnt find anything.

i've got drivers from HTC-Sync on one PC and tried with rhe tool "knives and forks" on another. both didnt manage to recognize my phone.

I have no more working ROM on it.

First step is tu run adb ... suggestions?
thx for helP!

adb devices only works when in hboot mode. 4ext has a usb brick fix menu. Use that....

You went about this all wrong I am afraid. Your first step to recovery is flash back the original stock hboot. Then at least your current rom should boot.
