Root USB Brick? Help!

Ok, so here's what I did.

1) Copied the contents of my sd card to my hard drive
2) Partitioned my sd card as Fat32
3) Tried to go back to using my sd card as usual (yeah right)

Here is the error I get:

E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount /sdcard

I read something about using a fastboot command to enable sdcard access???

Problem is, I've never used flashboot...

What do I do?

how did you partition your card? what ext did you use ext3 or ext4? what size partition did you do?and what about swap?
 
It asked me three times for sizes. The first one was swap (I set it to 0). The second one, I forget, but I want to say it was ext3 (I set it to 0). Finally, it asked me for FAT32, and I just went with the default. It was working, until I accidentally rebooted the phone.

if you set the ext3 size to 0 then that is your issue. ext3 is where the apps will go. but if you set it to 0 then you have no place for the apps to go.

please read the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html. it has a partitioning section. you can get directions there.
 
Ok, I was able to get back to where I partitioned from.

It asked me for the following sizes:

Swap - I set 32MB
ext2 - I set 512MB
and
FAT32 - I set remainder

My computer still is not recognizing the USB though. That's my problem right now. I give two squirts of piss about what happened to my apps. I want to access my sd card again.

is the card blank still? did you move your card's content back to the card? you can try and install htc sync and its drivers. that has worked for me in the past. i believe that the driver for the card is sometimes stored on the card and if you remove it sometimes the computer has trouble recognizing it.
 
Yes, the sd card is still blank. I can't access the sd card at all. I even tried looking for it with fastboot, but it can't find my device.

Currently, I have reprtitioned the harddrive (swap - 32MB; ext2 - 512MB; FAT32 - remainder) I have it in amonRA recovery, and USB is toggled on.

I guess its complicated by the fact that I'm on a mac. My mac normally recognizes the sdcard with no drivers needed.
 
Nope, no card reader. I can't believe the sd card could mess up so much stuff. Now my whole phone doesn't work. This sucks!

I'm REALLY trying to think what I'm missing here.

1) sd card was partitioned with ext3 and whatever.
2) I had a2sd, but that just put my apps on the sd card
3) I copied the contents of my sd card to my desktop
4) I partitioned my sd card (swap - 0; ext2 - 0; FAT32 - remainder)
5) Now my computer doesn't recognize the sd card AND Android doesn't work!?
  • Seriously, it will load to a wallpaper with battery, signal, and time. It even gives me the little USB icon. But, no shell or whatever.

WTFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!

not sure what you mean by this. fasboot can mean a bunch of things depending on contexr. fastboot is something that gingerbread added so that your phone is in hibernation making booting up faster. fastboot can also mean the bootloader option. can you explain further? what is your hboot?
 
I don't know how to find my hboot, but I'm talking about fastboot the bootloader option.

I go into my bash terminal and type the command:
  • fastboot-mac devices

and it recognizes my phone.

ok got it. but to find your hboot. power the phone off then press and hold power+vol down. this will take you to the bootloader screen. at the top will be your hboot version.
 
I can access recovery, but when I try to nandroid restore i get the following error:

Build : RA-supersonic-v2.3
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(invalid argument)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:/nandroid/

ok nandroid restore will not work if there is nothing on the card. it is looking for the folder which is not there. try doing a nandroid backup. it will create a folder.

FIXED IT!!!

I had to download this app call SD Formatter
available at: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/

I chose the Complete Format, it took like 10-15mins, and then rebooted my device.

The SD Card is being read by my computer, and I have successfully flashed a ROM, placed a phone call, sent a text, etc.

i will have to remember that app. good call. and i'm glad that you got it fixed.
