USB - memory card virus

Hi Experts,

Few days ago I plugged in a virus-infected (Recycler.exe, invitro, Newfolder.exe) USB memory stick in my laptop and my laptop got infected. I did not have any AV and later on i plugged-in my Desire to my laptop that also got infected.

Now I have installed an AV on my laptop and cleaned it but whenever I plug in my HTC Desire, my AV detects the virus on memory card.

This has resulted in me not being able to access contents (MP3, Pictures) from my memory card of Desire. Also the AV has excluded the infected folders (MP3, DCIM etc.) and they don't even appear in the explorer when mobile is plugged in the laptop. I have tried connecting my HTC Desire via USB cable and using a USB Adaptor to connect the memory card but no success.

Can someone please suggest me how to fix this problem and access my memory card with all the folder once again?

I am able to access these files when memory card is plugged in the Desire.

I have also installed a free AV called Dr. Web from Android Market but that does not seem to detect the virus.

Can you also suggest an AV that will keep my Desire safe?

viruses for pc's are not compatible with android, there isnt really any known android viruses.
i very much doubt your android has a virus, its more like the files on the card is infected with the pc on.

I would advised you get a usb microsd adapter and plug it into the pc then virus scan it

Hi,

Yes I have done the virus scan on microSD Card using an adaptor and my 'Avast Pro 5.0' found infected files on SD card and quarantined them. My AV cannot repair those files and these don't show up on the card when it is plugged in the laptop.

I am not able to access my pictures/songs from memory card when plugged in the laptop.

Try a different antivirus.

Try Avira or AVG

If you know what your looking for you could run Linux off a CD and delete it that way. But I feel that that may confuse matters more. Format and be done with it

Rastaman is right, Linux (Android), don't, wont, cant, get infected by a Windows virus.

i can't transfer data on my SD cart it says that memory is full but it is't.
i format the memory card but the problem is still there.

Or just format it and be done with it.

Doing this would save you so much hassle.
Though I guess that depends if you have any backups of pictures etc.
