USB Notification

I recently purchased a new Droid. It was defective. I now have a new one and I am trying to transfer pictures from the old to new. In trying to do this I turned of my USB notification. I did find a post that said how to transfer pictures but since I turned of the USB notification I can't use information from this post. By the way I am 64...don't feel totally overwhelmed by this new phone but my little bit of knowledge has been dangerous and has gotten me into trouble. I know this web site will be of help.

Welcome to android Forums! :)

How exactly did you turn off USB notification? If you mean the screen that pops up when you plug it in, you may need to pull down the notification bar and tap on USB connected to get that screen.

I hit the menu button on the bottom of the phone (the one on the left...I think that is the correct name) and then picked notifications. It gave me a menu of three items one of which was PC. I chose that one and all of the options went away.

What model phone have you got? Many of the options can be part of the manufacturers custom launcher.

Welcome to the AndroidForums, Tonya!

Let's see if the information below helps you:

There is a pull-down "shade" that at the top of the screen that you can use to put the SD card in "USB Mass Storage" or "Mount as Disk Drive" mode.

Make sure you device is connected via the USB cable, then touch the top of the screen and drag down. You should see a few sections, one of which is labeled "Ongoing" with a "USB connection" section. Touch the "USB connection" section, then select "USB Mass Storage" (or similar option). Hopefully, when you do this, your computer will automatically recognize your phone's SD card so you can explore it.

If you are using a Windows machine, don't forget to do a "safe eject" before repeating the above steps but choosing "Charge only" and unplugging your USB cable so that your phone will be in control of your SD card again.

Hope that helps!
