Help USB Recognition Issue

I'm having issue with my computer recognizing my Nexus. I'm using the cable that came with the phone, and it worked just fine until yesterday. The phone charges when I plug into my computer but the computer doesn't recognize that a USB device is connected to it nor does the phone recognize it's connected to a computer. I've tried a few different computers and cannot figure out what it could be. Anyone out there have any similar issue and/or know how I can fix it?

P.S. Phone is not rooted. Thank you in advance.

Odd it used to work and now fails on multiple PC's? Have you verified Settings > Storage > Menu button > USB Computer Connection > Media device (MTP) is checked?

Yup. Perhaps I should give some background info behind when it stopped working:

Yesterday I plugged the phone into my comp and as it was connecting (it might have just connected) and the phone decided to shut off and restart (no clue why).

That's odd 4 sure. Have you tried a reboot of the PC with the phone connected? That's helped me with recognition issues before but it doesn't explain its lack of working on more than one PC. Would almost be nice to try another cable if the reboot fails, even though I realize it still works for charging the phone.

Yah tried the restarting with phone plugged in. I think I'm just going to have to give VZW a call and get a replacement. But the question I have now is do you (or anyone) know of a good way for me to backup my files to my comp via wireless methods?

edit: discovered the magical powers of AirDroid :) ... only if it could go faster...
