Help usb storage problem

Alright im trying to transfer movies and music to my ps3. Have done this numerous times before all the exact same way on my d1. Now i have bionic and plughed in my usb to the ps3 when i did 2 usb spots popped up and all of my stuff was on the second one transfered successfully no issues. Now im trying to do it again and im only getting 1 usb storage spot and its the first one and is completely empty. How do i get them both to reappear so i can transfer my files again. I dont know or cant see anywhere that this would have changed. My wife plays that stupid city story on my phone which i swear messes phones up becausei had no problems with the d1 until she installed that game, now im having issues with my bionic that didnt start until that game was installed on my phone. Could it be the issue? Any ideas guys im open to suggestions, i have even thought of doing a factory reset i just dont want to go through adding my apps all over again. So if there is a way to fix this without taking it back tp out of the box condition. Thx

What works on a Bionic-USB-Windows 7 link when this problem ossucrs is ...

With the Bionic connected to the USB and Windows 7.
Bring down the dropdown display.
Choose USB connection.
Make sure it is set to USB Mass Storage.
Power Off the Bionic.
Power On the Bionic.
When the Bionic is loading the first disk will show up.
When the Bionic is done loading the second disk will show up after about 15 seconds.

Let me know if it works for you.

Here is what I have found.
Slacker apparently keeps an active open file on the internal SD card and it does not release it when you mount via USB.
I was having this same issue and tried multiple things to fix it.
One of them was an attempt to format the internal SD card which failed continually. I went in manually through root explorer and deleted everything on the internal SD card and still was not able to format the internal SD or mount it via USB. I then noticed that almost immediately the Slacker folder re-appeared on the internal SD card, even before the .android_secure folder did. So, I cleared all data and cache for slacker, forced closed it then froze it with Ti. I was then able to format the internal SD card first try and it mounted first time as well. Since freezing Slacker, I have not had that issue again.

Could be coincidence, could be that there was something on my internal SD that was corrupt, but I have had this issue with both of my Bionics. Since freezing Slacker, it is fixed for me.

Ok thom i gave it a try. It didnt work. Not sure exactly what slacker would have to do with my problem though snitzel, or how i would turn it off. Any other ideas?

I assume you are using the USB cable that came with the Bionic and not an "old" USB cable.

Why it works on Windows 7 is that apparently there is some condition being raised in the Bionic that is preventing the connection. Power Off/Power On resets it to the default and then it works.

Clutching for straws ... power them both machines off and on and see if it resets.

If Slacker is not letting go of the SD card, as I suspect it is, then the computer (or PS3 in your case) cannot mount it because it is not available. Therefore you see the SD card is there but cannot read from it.
If you're rooted, you can clear all data for Slacker and freeze it like I did and/or delete it.
Non-rooted... not sure if you can delete Slacker or if it is locked.

My Bionic is not (yet) rooted. Your solution could be what I am getting around by Power Off/Power On.

I never use the App you quote but we both know by now that that doesn't mean anything.

It will be interesting to see if it "magincally disappears" when OTA is released.

I think that's what is going on. After reboot, the system is able to mount the SDcard before whatever service starts. I was not using Slacker either but even having it installed means it can run a service in the background.
If you go into the app drawer and launch "Files" and "Internal phone Storage" do you see a Slacker folder there?

I do have thgat folder. In the User subfolder there is a file called "playsequence.dat" with today's date and a fairly recent time.

I also had the hang when I tried to connect to the PC showing only the SD-EXT drive. Power Off/On did not fix it. I had to do a battery pull. That fixed it.

I loaded Slacker today for the first time in a month.

When I opened "playsequence.dat" on my PC is is a foue byte binary file.

I just reloaded the Bionic again. The date/time of that file seems to be the dsate/time it came back up ... conclusion ... that file is being written every time you power on the Bionic.

My GUESS is that your problem is not the one I have been having.

I still cant figure it out. I have powerrd it down, done a battery pull, reset my ps3, i just cant get it to pop up for me at all. I tried to stop slacker but a force stop was the best i could get. Should i go into astro and erase all the slacker files? I dont use slacker anyway.

Hmmm - then if Slacker is actively grabbing a hold of the /sdcard the nit might not show when you connect to Windows - interesting.

Is it installed (Well, of course it is, it is a system app after all)? Even if you do not use it if it is installed, it may conflict if you ever used it once - b/c it will be running as a service, which may mean it is hijacking the internal storage....

Try going to Settings --> Applications --> All tab --> Slacker --> Clear data button (and clear cache if that is pressable) and then rebooting your phone.

That should stop Slacker from running in the background anymore (since it will clear out your username and such) and may solve your problem.

OK, then go to Settings --> Applications --> Running tab --> make sure Slacker is not running (if it is kill it) and then clear data and cache on All tab again, then reboot again, and see if it works.

It may not have cleared everything out if it was still running, and I forgot to tell you to look for it and kill it first before doing all that other stuff.

Its not running and the data is clear. I still only have one storage spot i dont think my problem has to do with slacker.

I don't either, but I'm not sure what to try.

Another user with a similar problem used the beta drivers in my sig (they're still the newest drivers available) so you might try that.

2 of the things are downloaded but what do i do with this stuff once its downloaded. I clicked on one of the things and it said file type msi not found

Not ising a computer at all. Dont have a computer just my trusty droid. I was able to download them to my phone but i cant do anhthing with them. Should i go and delete those drivers since im not on computer?

yup. They'll do you no good.

I'm not sure why the PS3 is acting up, but I cannot help much since I don't have a PS3.

Thanx for the help. I will be contacting tech support to resolve this issue. Ill let u know what the problem was.

Tech support told me to take to to the nearest Verizon store and have them check it out. I switched the sd card with another one and it worked. So what im thinking is that all of those files im trying to transfer are on my internal storage and not my sdcard like they should be. When i access astro it all shows up under my sd card. What i get to show up on my ps3 is sdcard ext. When i look at available storage space internal total i have 8 available i have 3.77 sd card it says i have 14.78 and available is 14.55. So i think my music is on the internal memory even though it shows up on my sd card in a music file on astro. How do i fix this.
